Great performance by the narrator, but a very long drawn out epic story. I think Polgara is a lot less likeable now then when we first met her. Her compassion comes in very rare bursts, but every other character I find totally likeable and work well together in the story as a whole.
read these books as a teenager and listening to them 20 or so years later there still awesome
"Not the Narrator I would like."
i have nothing personally against the narrator. however, everyone in the story seems to either have a slow speach impediment or they are closely related to pepe' la' pewe. i have read all of Eddings books as far as i know. and this particular series is by far my favorite. i just was not happy with the narration. the only voice in the whole series that really seems to fit the character would be Beldin. he was done to perfection. i personnally feel as though this would be a great story to have done "dramatized" with an all star cast..
lol, feel free to contact me for voice recommendations. please do not misunderstand me, the narrator would was fine whenever he was reading the "narration", it is only the voices that ruined it for me.
"Great books, not so great narrator"
I love these books and re-read them often. I decided to purchase an audio copy so that I could multi-task. The narrator however, is very disappointing. He is decent for the narration, but his accents & pronunciations are inconsistent, he mispronounces words and his vowels (git instead of get, for example) are awful. With a better narrator I would give it 5 stars.
"One step closer..."
As I said before I think Cameron Beirle consolidates his footing better and better with each novel. This is no exception. I noticed fewer and fewer inconsistencies with his narration, particularly in this installment.
Having regained the Orb of Aldur from Ctuchik, the now-vanquished disciple of Torak, Belgarion and his companions must escape from the crumbling city of Rak Cthol, pursued by the soldiers of the maniacal king of Cthol Murgos as well as by the sinister arts of the now-leaderless Grolim priests. Only then can they return the Orb to the Hall of the Rivan King, which Polgara reveals must be accomplished by Erastide. From there Belgarion must set out to meet a destiny beyond
"my all time favorite series by my favorite author"
amazing story, David Eddings puts you in the moment , and in the scene. you are living the story with the characters.
"READ IT MANY TIMES - NOW LISTENING IS EVEN BETTER!"
read this series in high school and college several times. now listening to it is even more wonderful and I enjoy every moment. the voice actor is incredible
"I love this entire book series"
David and Leigh Eddings were such amazing authors. They inspire me to write my own works.
"She surrendered, at last, to love." Kinda says it all does it not? At least I do.
I love this series. It is one of the best stories I have ever heard
well I was torn. I've been reading these books over and over since early 1980's so I have all the voices in my head. so it was kinda disappointing to hear the females voices to be timid and kinda weak. accents think we're over cooked a bit. but I think if the gentleman voicing these characters had the time invested like us they would have been more to our liking. that being said.....he did a nice job. garion and sparhawk are so ingrained in my life that maybe my opinion is a little selfish. I don't know.......but thank you very much for the reading. I will continue to purchase and listen. thank you!
"Come on, Cameron!"
I'm beginning to wonder if the voice actor on this just wasn't given enough time with the scripts. Fiddle penyang.
you can get past the narrator it's a good story and the guy does his best. worth it
still holding my attaention
