"A vivid and rousing adventure with the kind of magic that punches you right in the face." (Jen Williams, author of The Copper Promise)
"Stephen Aryan puts the epic into Epic Fantasy. This is a ground-shaking debut, full of fiery promise." (Den Patrick, author of The Boy with the Porcelain Blade)
When I first read that it contained few recurring characters, I was a little unsure. Turns out my trepidation was for naught. I really loved this one. The narration was on par with the first and the story really held me. If you enjoyed the first one, you will definitely enjoy this!
started with very-little-of-the-previous-characters with unrelated stories, tied in well but ended with a member-measuring-contest-and with-the-most-stupid-sacrifice-ever.
"Great for Fantasy fans. Tamer Game of Thrones"
Like Song of Ice and Fire but focusing on Magic. Still plenty of blood, little bit of sex (mostly implied), but a lot of Magic. 2 or 3 stories all wrapped up in one City. Can't wait for the next one.
"A Great Fantasy read from the Author of Battlemage"
The character development is first class with a nod to characters from the previous book. It was hard to stop listening.
Matt Addis is the reason I chose to buy this book in Audible format rather then paperback. His voice carries you away to this world and differentiation of character voices make it easy to recognise what each character sounds like. Well done.
Stephen Aryan's work reminds me so much of David Eddings books of the Belgariad. I am so eager for the next book now that I may just have to start over again.
Preferred the first book & characters but still an enjoyable story. Voice actor was excellent.
Read this whole series it is great listening with no filling or padding
well worth a credit
