Publisher's Summary

The Word Guild 2005 Canadian Christian Writing Awards Award of Merit in Personal Growth/Individual Category

In this profound exploration of Christian identity, psychologist and spiritual director David G. Benner illuminates the spirituality of self-discovery. He exposes the false selves that you may hide behind and calls you to discover the true self that emerges from your uniqueness in Christ.

Freeing you from illusions about yourself, Benner shows that self-understanding leads to the fulfillment of your God-given destiny and vocation.

What the Critics Say

"David Benner is a keen student of both God and human personhood. It is a rare kind of book that combines wisdom about faith and understanding about the self. This is that kind of book." (John Ortberg, author and pastor)

    "Thought provoking read"

Benner gives us reason to consider our own way of interacting with others and with God. Have we developed a false self? I was apprehensive about the thought of knowing God better by understand self, but there is a logic to it. Consider for yourself.

"An excellent book about how we construct and try to maintain "false selves""

A wonderful and concise book about how we can know ourselves as we really are, which is how God knows us. It was eye-opening!
