WHAT BETTER TIME TO HEAR "THE FIVE PEOPLE YOU MEET IN HEAVEN" THAN ON THE WAY TO A FUNERAL, A HAPPY FUNERAL OF A 91 YEAR OLD, JOYCE FROM GRONG GRONG. ONE'S THOUGHTS TURNED TO WHO WERE JOYCE'S 5? AND THEN, WHO WILL BE MY 5? WE WERE JUST ABOUT RACING BACK TO THE CAR TO LISTEN TO THE NEXT INSTALMENT. ITS NOT THAT WE'RE MACABRE AND WANT TO PASS THROUGH LIFE QUICKLY - THIS BOOK ENCAPTURES WHERE WE WOULD LIKE TO GO, WHERE WE HAVE NOT THOUGHT OF GOING AND WHERE WE MAY NOT GO. A TREMENDOUS WAY TO ENCOURAGE THOUGHT PROVOKING. THANKS MITCH. ANOTHER STEP IN THE DIRECTION, AFTER MORRIE!
"Touches my Heart just thinking about it"
Yes - because Mitch reads it and knows what he is reading!
Eddie - because he is so human and so vulnerable!
Everything - He creates the characters therefore understands the characters.
I must have expected a far better story since I loved his other book 'Tuesdays with Morrie',
But I liked his narration, and the book was quite enjoyable, pleasant, and was not boring.
If you do not have high expectations as I did, I am sure you will love this book more than I did.
(Not that I didn't enjoy the five people)
I wouldn't mind listening to it again at a later time.
"The Five People"
Absolutley stunning, I am not usually into this sort of thing but somebody recommended it and is fantastic. A wonderful story
"5 People you meet in Heaven"
I loved this book. It was a great insight into how heaven may seem when we die. 5 people Eddie meets in heaven is a journey through his life and how it effected him whilst still on Earth. It's a good book and highly enjoyable to listen to. I hope Heavens that interesting when I go.
Mitch Albom as so many beautiful stories, they seem like ordinary fiction with a sparkle of magic. The Five People You Meet In Heaven is definite book you MUST read before you die. You hear about Eddie and his life on Earth and his journeys in Heaven after that life is over. It makes you feel part of the world. Like every moment, action and person are all connected to each other.
Thought provoking and beautifully written - I just wanted to find out who was coming next and wasn't ready for the book to finish when it did. Well worth reading.
I love this book. I was never much of a reader as a child ( I found it difficult to read till I was 18 and dignosed with server dyslexia ) I got a kindle and this was one of the first books I read and I think this is now my 5 or 6 time readng it...this time I got it on audible too so I can listen while falling asleep.
"Just not for me"
First there is nothing wrong with the story or writing style.. It's a nice story and will appeal to many.
I found the start great and would have been vastly more interested if the story had delved deeper into the style of person 1... However I found for me the content lacking and struggled to stay engaged with the book as a whole..
Thought this was a beautiful book, thoughtful, yet affirming one's faith.
Not over long but each sequence there fir a purpose and segued perfectly to the next.
"Charming but rather twee"
It was a sweet unrealistic little flight of fancy.
Of it's kind it was excellent but it is rather simplistic and childlike and I think would appeal to a young teenage reader-ship. I was going to read it with my book club but thought they would consider it to unchallenging.
No I haven't. His reading was very good and I warmed to the characters.
I certainly engaged with the main protagonist , he was a nice guy but that is all.
I would recommend it but only to the right person.
"Beautiful moving story"
Although a short story it has a powerful thought provoking punch. It moved me to tears a couple of times.
"Great literary journey"
Beautiful and engaging journey through the questions and challenges everyone can experience during their lives. Equally uplifting as it is thought provoking and dark.
Performances are superb and very well understood.
