Story
As Adolf Hitler and the Nazis seduced a nation, bullied a continent, and attempted to exterminate the Jews of Europe, a small number of dissidents and saboteurs worked to dismantle the Third Reich from the inside. One of these was Dietrich Bonhoeffer. In the first major biography of Bonhoeffer in 40 years, New York Times best-selling author Eric Metaxas takes both strands of Bonhoeffer's life - the theologian and the spy - to tell a searing story of incredible moral courage in the face of monstrous evil.

A lot can be learned from this, though there are a few aspects (very few) which I believe to be misguided and not sound theology.

Challenging read but worth while
Provided much needed harmonisation between faith and obedience whilst distinguishing justification and sanctification.
Challenging call for the believe to take up one’s cross but true to Christ’s gospel.
His exposition of the Sermon on the mount was helpful.
I found long chapters’ stream of thought difficult to follow and was grateful for the many small chapters
Clearly Bonhoeffer knows God and has a high view of God. His conviction in the truth of his views at times seems abrasive BUT when considering the time and atmosphere in which he wrote, and the desperation with which he clung to the Lord, it is hard to find fault. I pray God will raise up many more such men and women of faith!

Captivating
If you take discipleship seriously, then this book is one of the best. Biblically accurate, and because of this the living word does the rest. Very encouraging.
