Publisher's Summary

Colorful stories about and profound teachings of Patrul Rinpoche, one of the most impactful teachers and thinkers in the Tibetan tradition from the 19th century.

The life and teachings of the wandering yogi Patrul Rinpoche - a highly revered Buddhist master and scholar of 19th-century Tibet - come alive in true stories gathered and translated by the French Buddhist monk Matthieu Ricard over more than 30 years, based on the oral accounts of great contemporary teachers as well as written sources. Patrul's life story reveals the nature of a highly realized being as he transmits the Dharma in everything he does, teaching both simple nomads and great lamas in ways that are often unconventional and even humorous, but always with uncompromising authenticity.

Remarkable journey of profound individual

Just loved the ordinary life stories of the not so ordinary Patrul Rinpoche
The teachings so inspiring and that it was not so long ago when those non materialistic qualities were held with great reverence by ordinary people. Refreshing !

Superbly told - A masters life - Walking the Walk

Much merit and gratitude for Patrul Rinpoche life of teachings and also for Mattieu Ricards translation of Patruls truly incredible life.
The narration is superb and there are many introductory terms that led me to further teachings/transmissions of the many aspects of life we encounter, how to perceive them (Dharma teaching) and cultivate many alternate states of our choosing in response.
I've now listened over 10x as these recounted stories are literally transmissions of Dharma teachings - including memoirs of instructions by Patrul to himself... he instructed of his own short-comings. He aimed for the greatest good, no doubt. That section is worth regular listens.
I also have, The Words of My Perfect Teacher.
And hope one day, it will be read by a wonderful narrator for Audible
Many blessings to all who read Patrul Rinpoches transmissions contained herein, literally. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🌻🌻🌻🌻

Interesting stories.

This is an interesting book, but would be better to read yourself than listen to. Its filled with many stories about Patrul Rinpoche but it doesn't work as a listening experience. The chapters are small, and one story flows into the next. Not something I could listen to for any length of time.
