Publisher's Summary

Penguin presents the unabridged downloadable audiobook edition of The Little Book of Hygge, written and read by Meik Wiking.

Denmark is often said to be the happiest country in the world. That's down to one thing: hygge.

'Hygge has been translated as everything from the art of creating intimacy to cosiness of the soul to taking pleasure from the presence of soothing things. My personal favourite is cocoa by candlelight....'

You know hygge when you feel it. It is when you are cuddled up on a sofa with a loved one or sharing comfort food with your closest friends. It is those crisp blue mornings when the light through your window is just right.

Who better than Meik Wiking to be your guide to all things hygge? Meik is CEO of the Happiness Research Institute in Copenhagen and has spent years studying the magic of Danish life. In this beautiful, inspiring audiobook, he will help you be more hygge: from picking the right lighting and planning a dinner party through to creating an emergency hygge kit and even how to dress.

Meik Wiking is the CEO of the Happiness Research Institute in Copenhagen. He is committed to finding out what makes people happy and has concluded that hygge is the magic ingredient that makes Danes the happiest people in the world.

Warm and resonates

This is a great book that resonated heavily with me although I live in Australia, the core of Hygge is wonderful. It is expertly read, very easy and calming to listen to and has inspired me to pursue more Hygge in my life.

My only disappointment is that the recipes and illustrations aren’t included as downloadable PDF’s.

Get Hyggely

If you could sum up The Little Book of Hygge in three words, what would they be?

This book is wonderful. I smiled through so many sections and even laughed. Wiking has done a superb job. I wasn't completely convinced by the trial but so glad I read the reviews and listened to the whole thing - spectacular. He is honest, funny and gets down to the truth of what hygge is, why it's important for all of us and has made me want to adopt it not just into my vocabulary, but into my way of life. He has managed to make a book about hygge, hyggely :D.

Don’t know what I expected

This was a fine book to comfort me while I painted but It did not spark any sort of passion from me.

Very lovely sentiment but a little repetitive

Amazing narration and the book gave me a sense of hygge to listen to on busy and usually stressful commutes, however - 4 star rating as some of the content is a little repetitive and perhaps to some, the Danish way of living is not possible in their home. All in all, I have been wanting to read this book for several years but decided the audiobook could be more calming and I am not disappointed with my decision.

I had a thoroughly 'Hygge time' listening to this.

Took this on an interstate (red eye) flight recently and thoroughly enjoyed it. The social studies were really interesting and listening to all the discriptions of Hygge things made me feel so cozy and inspired. will listen again.

A warm mug of coffee in the form of a book

The book that provides you a framework and guidance for something that really matters - that secure, safe and comfortable feeling of coziness.
