Cathy Glass, international best-selling author, tells the shocking story of Zeena, a young Asian girl desperate to escape from her family.
When 14-year-old Zeena begs to be taken into care with a non-Asian family, she is clearly petrified. But of what?Placed in the home of experienced foster carer Cathy and her family, Zeena gradually settles into her new life, but misses her little brothers and sisters terribly.
Prevented from having any contact with them by her family who insist she has brought shame and dishonour on the whole community, Zeena tries to see them at school. But when her father and uncle find out, they bundle her into a car and threaten to set fire to her if she makes anymore trouble. Zeena is too frightened to press charges against them despite being offered police protection in a safe house.
Eventually, Cathy discovers the devastating truth from Zeena, and with devastation she believes there is little she can do to help her.

another fantastic book written by Cathy, i commend you for all the good you have done for these choldren and how you have helped them through some horrible and unthinkable situations. can't wait to read more of yours and will continue to give honest and accurate reviews which are no doubt loke above.
This is another excellent book by Cathy Glass. It's a truly incredible story of a child who lives through a horrific childhood and still finds it in her heart to forgive.
I didn't know situations like Zeena's still happened.`. Unbelievable... As sad as this child's circumstances were, she still managed to forgive one parent and move on. Truly amazing! I'm not sure I could... I've finished all the books but the novels and can't wait for the next one.
As always, the narration was fantastic!
This book was a sad yet hopeful look into a culture that many of us do not hear of or understand. As Cathy takes in a young Asian girl who has been abused in ways Cathy has not experienced she is impressed by a young lady who is able to forgive and continue on with her life.
I was extremely touched by this book and learned much about a culture I knew some about but do not understand.
An incredible story of a girl's courageous journey through rape, prostitution and forgiveness and love.
Absolutely brilliant, such a heartwarming story which captures such an indepth corrupt and cruel society and what really does happen. The story is written and illustrated with such detail it will make you shiver, a must have in your collection.
"Well written, riveting story"
I listened to this Audible version and I could barely do anything else until I was finished. It shines the light on a problem no one talks about as well as the power of fostering. I love Cathy's sweet parenting style.
"A Very Worthy Reading"
I gave this book 4 starts, fora reason which I will explain, but I must say it is highly recommended. I couldn't put it down. This is the first book I read by this author, but reviews were glowing and I was not disappointed.
On the more tecnical side... The reason I didn't give this book 5 stars was that it included way too much details. I knew the household's rutene. WHy did she have to repeate it every single day she discribed? And why did she discribe every single day for most of the story? ANd every activity everyone in the house did during the day... I understand family and friends will find it funny. But I didn't know why she had to tell that she is swiching on her computer after telling that she went to check her emails. Most people swich their computers before checking their emails.
It took me time to get used to the narrater. But I think I did at the end. I listened to other narraters who could have done a better job. Though, when I got used to her, I found out she did a nice voiceover work.
It is hard for me to write this since, over all, Kathy writes very very well. I consider the story a kind of must read. Not only as a foster parenting story, but also as an eye opener. You will know why when you read. SO do pick up this book please.
"Another brilliant story"
This broke my heart into a million pieces but I am so glad that things worked out for her.
Heart breaking story of courage and compassion, it's hard to believe that this can take place in modern society.
My first Cathy Glass book, it won't be my last
I recommend this book, be prepared for a few tears!
"A Riveting Story"
It was nice to read about a teenager's experience. Zeena seems very strong to me, despite what she went through. As always, Cathy has a really approachable and kind manner, as much with Zeena as with any other child or teen she fosters, and this really comes across in her writing. There are very sensitive issues here, but Cathy's adolescent/ young adult children deal with what happened to Zeena with a wiseness beyond their years. As with all books by Cathy Glass, I cannot fault the flow of the story or the character voice.
fantastic story this was my 2nd time reading ov this story my heart goes out to zena an all best for you future x
"Well done to Cathy saving this young lady."
Brilliantly written as always, so pleased it worked out for Zena. narrated well too. Cathy Glass is a wonderful lady and Mother, well done.
"Outstanding and heart wrenching!"
Another practice based experience of a wonderful foster carer, who tells it like it is, through the eyes of those who are most vulnerable. excellent performance on the part of the narrator, who portrays Cathy Glass's work so well. This is a subject many of us in the western world are aware of, but would rather try and evade than face the horrors of truth that could be in our own street. The author deals with the ever growing problem in the UK of forced marriage, offering graphic facts in a way which can't help but leave the the reader better informed and aware. Congratulations on an incredibly well written piece of subject matter that is now exposed in yet another powerful didactic way!
This was a heartfelt story of how different cultures can treat their children. It was amazing that the young lady turned out to be such a generously kind person, I admire the love and dedication foster parent give to there charges.
"Interesting in parts."
I found this book quite boring and repetitive in parts.
This was the first by Cathy Glass.
The voices of the daughters were so annoying and loud.
I found the book became quite boring until Zeena revealed what had happened to her and then it was hard to put it down.
