Over 90 percent of the population suffers from inflammation or an autoimmune disorder. Until now, conventional medicine has said there is no cure. Minor irritations like rashes and runny noses are ignored, while chronic and debilitating diseases like Crohn's and rheumatoid arthritis are handled with a cocktail of toxic treatments that fail to address their root cause. But it doesn't have to be this way.
In The Autoimmune Solution, Dr. Amy Myers, a renowned leader in functional medicine, offers her medically proven approach to prevent a wide range of inflammatory-related symptoms and diseases, including allergies, obesity, asthma, cardiovascular disease, fibromyalgia, lupus, IBS, chronic headaches, and Hashimoto's thyroiditis.

"What an annoying voice!!!!!"
I really liked the book's information, but I feel like the author is a snotty jerk. Maybe it really was written with a snotty attitude or maybe it was just the speaker. I know for sure that I never want to listen to her speak again. As much as I was interested in the book, it took me a while to get through it because I couldn't stand her voice & attitude. It made my baby cry!
"Worst book ever."
This is an incredibly annoying infomercial. If I could give no stars, I would. Narcissistic self promoting marketer. Awful awful woman. I might actually ask for my money back. Was I clear about how much I disliked this book?
"where is the PDF enhancement?????"
the book was very informative gave lots of tips for those dealing with autoimmune disease. But the audiobook refers to PDF enhancement and appendices which are not provided.
"Paleo Diet For Autoimmune Disease"
Be aware that this is a Paleo diet and not suitable for people who are vegans, vegetarians or just trying to limit their intake of animal based proteins. It would have been helpful if that information was made clear in the review or publisher introduction and overview. The diet presented here is very rigid and limited and there are no variations or alternatives for non meat eaters.
"A positive message about autoimmunity"
Narration was delightful, and the message is a rare comprehensive message that autoimmunity can be improved or eliminated through diet and modern knowledge of what triggers the immune system, with fresh ideas based on science and emerging genetic discoveries. First book that left me in an uplifted mood, unlike all the negative stuff we get from modern medical doctor-robots practicing outdated and incorrect science in 7-minute doses.
"The Worst Paleo-esque Diet Book Ever"
The writer came through as self centered and egotistical. She said, "the Myer's Way" a million times and then never really said what the way was. It was inferred by all the fear mongering she was doing but never spelled out. This was probably because she's just rebranding Paleo to cash in. Also, We get that she's a MD but who cares anymore about them. Facts are facts; eating Paleo is better than almost any other diet format but no one gets to rebrand the human diet.
No, just her.
anyone else. She didn't help the book sound any less egotistical. She does sound smug.
Yes, it made all the other Paleo books look that much better.
I feel like she reached in my pocket and robbed me. This was a first and I won't soon forget. I hope her practice goes well and that she heals patients like she claims but she should have opened a big can of humiliation before publishing this trash.
Her story is so relatable. The plan is do-able and not overwhelming. The meal plan and recipes help TREMENDOUSLY..
NO.. the narrator is awful and pretentious sounding. Almost robotic sounding, like an automated customer service rep or something..
That the author/doctor has first-hand experience dealing with autoimmune herself. It's so hard to find a doctor that understands AI, let alone has dealt with it themselves.
I've read some negative reviews, although I found this book extremely helpful. Yes, the narrator is awful and pretentious sounding, but the content is there. Yes, you can find a lot of this stuff by researching on your own, which I have done myself, but this summarizes it all in one book. I work full-time, and I'm sick. It's exhausting to research all of this on your own and make meal plans every weekend. The downloadable PDF was very helpful as it has an entire 30 day meal plan complete with recipes, as well as a chart of recommended supplements that you can buy either from her store OR from the alternative/comparable brands (that she recommends), which you can buy online from Amazon or elsewhere (which I did since I have Amazon Prime).
"diet plan not included in book."
no eating plan includded just a lot talk about the diet. mostly just a Comercial for selling the diet plan.
very informative and easy to listen to. I use this eating lifestyle for my patients as well as for myself
"Important information but very hard to deal with the narrator"
The book is great. I learned a lot and may go buy the hard copy for the recipes and charts. The narrator sounds like an adult trying to sound like a whiny or petulant child. No way any of the people quoted in this book would sound this way... I hope! She tries to do male voices, etc and it makes it very hard to focus on the content because it is so bad. I wouldn't think trying to narrate this way would ever be desirable for this type of book. Read the book but stick with hard copy.
"Good info but..."
I enjoyed this book after I managed to get over the narrators voice which I can only describe as Disney-cute-robot-in-breathy-sexy mode, yea cringeworthy! She sounds just like Hank Moody's daughter, ugh. Anyway, the info in the book is by no means original or ground breaking but it's presented well with some good science bits for the geek in us. Dr. Myers also goes into lifestyle changes where other books tend not to; air filtration for example. Great to see another MD jumping on the Functional Medicine band wagon.
"Depressing but mesmerising!"
If like me, you have an autoimmune disorder that the doctors simply have no answer for other than drugs or surgery then this book could well be the solution. I've searched high and low for support and advice on how to handle disorders which are debilitating, distressing and quite frankly frightening, without much success. I randomly came across this and glad I did. Listened to 6 hours straight as I was mesmerised by the similarities and found myself nodding in agreement throughout. I have ordered a lot of supplements off the back of this book. I'll be starting the diet this week, and will update on my progress. In short - if you have an autoimmune disorder this book will resonate, and if like me you're at your wits end - there's no harm in following the simple nutrition and supplementation programme to (hopefully) get you back to good health.
"If u have health issues read this"
Yes it's a bit over the top of a diet but Iv been living with all sorts of strange health issues for years and this definitely helps it and so much of what Amy says just makes sense
It's just annoying that other people can get away with eating gluten etc etc and live a Fairly normal life
Everyone should read this. Not just those with "autoimmune" disease. Amazing. Anyone who has somewhat depleted immunity or is at the nasty diseases end of the spectrum.
