Publisher's Summary

When parents send their children off to college, Mom and Dad hope they'll return more cultivated, knowledgeable, and astute - able to see issues from all points of view. But, according to Ben Shapiro, there's only one view allowed on most college campuses: a rabid brand of liberalism that must be swallowed hook, line, and sinker.

In this explosive exposé, Ben Shapiro, a UCLA graduate, reveals how America's university system is one of the largest brainwashing machines on the planet. Examining this nationwide problem from firsthand experience, Shapiro shows how the leftists who dominate the universities - from the administration to the student government, from the professors to the student media - use their power to mold impressionable minds.

Fresh and bitterly funny, this book proves that the universities, far from being a place for open discussion, are really dungeons of the mind that indoctrinate students to become socialists, atheists, race baiters, and narcissists.

Reinforced what I already knew

The book regurgitates alot of left Uni Prof. content to illustrated the brainwashing point. I would have prefered more of Bens views and supporting facts opposing the left views.

Shapiro - Zealot & Prude

When not referring to sex or religion Shapiro is on point!

However his extreme zealotry and prudish nature spoil large portions of this book.

Great read, well argued, just a few too many names

Great arguments, very well sourced and founded on facts, maybe a few too many names and references. However the basic premise, that universities are full of leftist indoctrination and very biased, is well argued.

Scary Concept

I really enjoyed this book and its insight into American Universities (I do assume all western Unis are the same). It is scary to think if a certain politically aligned person taught certain things they'd be sacked and yet on the opposite end of the spectrum, it is allowed and even encouraged.

I'm smarter than everyone

Ben believes his simplified world view is the only valid representatio of facts because it meets the criteria of right and wrong according to how he was raised. Sarcasm and rapid delivery of information when presenting your argument makes for a great orator, when Ben is right he contributes to the division he seeks to adresss, you can be correct and gain traction in your goals, or you can be in the right, pugulistic and moving ever further from the goals you set in promoting the values you believe others should aspire to. Sam Harris, an author and public figure presenting similar arguments to Ben in a more philosophical and less dogmatic narrative found himself at one point as divisive as Ben Shapiro is in this book, he found himself going backwards instead of reaching broader acceptance. When the critical thinking that Shapiro aspires his peers to develop is applied to this book, there are many pages missing to explain the why in the what. I'm interested if Ben Shapiro's presentation of his narrative matures in his future publishing and he becomes a voice of reason rather than opposition.

Shaprio knows his audience

If you are a religious conservative looking to have what you already believe reinforced, without any real substance, then this is the book for you.
Shapiro knows what his people want to hear, and he knows the tone in which they wish to hear it. It has served him very well.

If however you want to consider the undeniable problems of the left wing without embracing the tribal, dogmatic and equally intolerant tribalism of the other side, look to authors such as Coleman Hughes, Heather Mac Donald, Eric Weinstein, Heather Heying, Peter Boghossian, James Lindsay, Helen Pluckrose, John McWhorter, Glenn Loury, among many others.

These are the types of people looking for courageous, honest conversation and real solutions and because of that struggle to find a home on either side of the political isle. These are the people who will pull us back from the brink, not demagogues like Shapiro.
