Forse l'Italia non si è mai sentita unita al 100% e alcuni dei popoli che prima erano indipendenti ora lottano per separarsi da mamma Roma, usando come punto di forza le diversità culturali, le divergenze di scelte e opinioni, addirittura la lingua parlata (che smette di diventare un "semplice" dialetto e si trasforma in idioma a sé stante).
In questo breve viaggio nel fenomeno del separatismo in Italia vedremo le vicende storiche, politiche e sociali che hanno portato alla creazione dei movimenti che vorrebbero distaccarsi, dalla Lega Nord (esponente principale del separatismo italiano) ai Sardisti, dai Vespri Siciliani di fine 1200 ai movimenti indipendentisti lombardi, altoatesini e friulani.
