Soon after WWII, U.S. statesman Dean Acheson warned that creating Israel on land already inhabited by Palestinians would "imperil" both American and all Western interests in the region. Despite warnings such as this one, President Truman supported establishing a Jewish state on land primarily inhabited by Muslims and Christians.
Few Americans today are aware that U.S. support enabled the creation of modern Israel. Even fewer know that U.S. politicians pushed this policy over the forceful objections of top diplomatic and military experts.

Insightful and very troubling
Very troubling how hidden this history is. Very well documented with footnotes. Highly recommended for anyone want to understand the truth of the past which will show us the future and the present

The trouble with Israel is long and bitter...
Reading about history outside the official mainstream version and biased propaganda is well worth the time and effort. Well done Alison Weir for speaking out on such explosive historic issues affecting us still today.

Superb!
A short book that packs real punch.
This is history that's crucial to understand current affairs. Clear prose, well-referenced and narrated with competence by Daniel McGowan. Works nicely synced to the kindle book.
Well done Alison! Your continuing and very effective efforts to bring more justice into the world - especially in relation to the fate of Palestinians and the land of Palestine - are much appreciated, worldwide.
