"Great value - Calm comfortable listening"
Nice to get so much info in one package. There is overlap but each guide has it's own slant on things. I suspect one or two of the guides was written by a different author, but that doesn't diminish the value. (Seems like even experts disagree on minor points these days...)
The narration is calm and comfortable. Easy to listen to for long periods.
"lol, this book could get you killed!"
no way, this guy has no idea what he is talking about. He did not think half of this stuff though. I wonder if he has ever been outside?
no this book just sucked.
no his voice drives me crazy!
I would change the whole book! don't carry a gun because they are too hard to keep clean?????
The whole thing is peppered with bits of really stupid advice. most of what he says is either so basic that a child would know it or it's not well thought out at all. He talks about how to tan deer hide but only gets half way through the process! What? and what prepare would walk around with no gun (because you'll run out of ammo so don't bring one) and a back pack full of canned food and mason jars? Have you ever walked 15 miles with a pack full of mason jars? WAIST OF A GOOD CREDIT
"Just another re-read of his other bad book, with a"
Wow, is this bad. It is simply his other book with a different cover and title. I didn't see the name of the author until after I purchased this book. Even Bear Gryls gives better advice than this hack.
The content. Almost word for word as his other book.
Please refund my credit, I could only tolerate the first couple chapters...
pretty good book. Lots of useful information. Helps all from the beginer to the advanced.
"Audible narrator is terrible"
The information included in these guides is fairly decent, but the narrator in the Audible version is nearly intolerable. From his nasally monotonous droning to his mispronunciation of common words ("eckspecially", "markmanship", and others), he was by far the most difficult part of the experience to tolerate- and I barely did.
Read the books instead and save yourself some eye rolls.
"good material, but redundant"
good compilation of general information, but there was a lot of overlap between books. I would rather see one large book that covers all if the topics instead of a bunch of small books with all the redundancy
I learnt a lot from these books. Since it is built up of a series of books there is quite a bit of repetition, but that only serves to hammer the points home imo. Some very useful and thought provoking observations and approached from a very common sense point of view rather than your stereotype. 'Egspecially' was a minor irritation instead of the word especially, but very worthwhile.
"Everyone should read this"
Excellent reference for anyone that does not want to be unprepared in an emergency. Basic short term inconvenience to long term disaster, here is what you need to know and do. Don't wait till you find yourself in an emergency to read this book.
"Very good information"
Very good information. a little repetitive but that should be expected on a collection of books. narrated very well.
"A Remarkable Compendium"
It actually turns out this is several books with several points of view. I get to decide. The reasoned approaches to each side of the discussions give me the information and I have the ultimate choice to choose the one that fits.
Don Baarns has a wonderful delivery and takes a potentially alarming topic and through his delivery somehow makes it more accessible.
Overall his tone, cadence and delivery are excellent. The only slight hiccup are his pronunciation of "especially" and "marksmanship". Don pronounces it eXpecially and marKmanship...leaving out the s. Probably small regional things.
Tiny items and not at all overwhelming in his fine narration.
We don't need a Zombie Apocalypse just to be prepared.
This book has lots of everyday ways to be prepared for the next time to power is off for a few days or for something far more serious. The reader gets to decide just how far they want to go in their state of readiness.
The idea of whether to have firearms is very well covered from two very distinctly different points of view. Both are sound and depend on each individual.
