    "not for me yet"

I'm not sure I was in the right mindset to read this, I think it was more spiritual than I am prepared to take on and understand fully so I unfortunately missed the intensity of this book but its written well and I wouldn't say its an awful book, I might read it again once my mind has become more open to it.

    Story
"A different path of the Peaceful Warrior"

This was my first book from the author and I'm not even sure what drew me to it, but sometimes the universe just works that way and you go with it. Much like The Way Of The Peaceful Warrior, the book tells a story about a man on a quest he doesn't really fully understand. Along the way, he finds a guide who leads, pushes, and forces inner exploration that takes him to a higher place than he imagined. The book is definitely spiritual, but not religious. Despite being about a pilgrimage along the Road to Santiago with some religious references, the story isn't about church or practices of the church. Rather, it's about one man's quest to find his own connection with the divine within and all around.

"Excellent, Favorite Coelho Book So Far!"
What did you love best about The Pilgrimage?

Fantastic example of a well written "hero's journey" style novel.

What other book might you compare The Pilgrimage to and why?

The Alchemist is similar yet very different, loved them both.

What insight do you think you’ll apply from The Pilgrimage?

Sometimes it takes a real "break" from the routine to appreciate what's already in front of your face!

    Any additional comments?

Me = middle aged, educated, married, husband and dad, professional, executive always seeking, learning, finding depth and meaning to life ... if that describes you too, then READ THIS BOOK!

"Expected more from its great author"

I had expected a more detailed recount about his pilgrimage and a less description about his spiritual experience. I do highly recommend the alchemist though

What made the experience of listening to The Pilgrimage the most enjoyable?

I never felt like reading any of Coelho's books since I'm not very "spiritual", but I finally went ahead and listened to this one and at first was just a tiny bit annoying, but it grew on me and till the end I was really captivated by the story and loved the narrative and everything

    "Want to walk the Pilgrimage"
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Not good as the narrator does not do Paulo Coelho justice.

Would you be willing to try another book from Paulo Coelho? Why or why not?

Yes, have read other by this author and have enjoyed.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Sean Runnette?

    No sure

Was The Pilgrimage worth the listening time?

No, narration was very difficult to listen to.

Would you listen to The Pilgrimage again? Why?

No doubt to hear messages throughout that I was too absorbed to hear the first time

What did you like best about this story?

There wasnt a "best" it was a story you wanted to learn from, and this meant listening to the end

Have you listened to any of Sean Runnette’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    No, first time

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

The "Journey" not the "Gym" (where we beat ourselves up)

    Any additional comments?

Paul conveys such a compelling message within all of this book

    Story
    "Hard-hitting and amazing"
What made the experience of listening to The Pilgrimage the most enjoyable?

The narrator's voice was spot on for such a book. It really captured the confusion, desperation and "lost" of that Paulo was experiencing throughout the events, and it instantly starts with such emotion which flows through the entire book. Every time you stop to listen to it, bang, you're right back into the world where you know nothing and are questioning everything, purely because of the superb narration.

What other book might you compare The Pilgrimage to and why?

It's like the Alchemist, but head on full on hard hitting lessons - lessons that make you cringe at times, but worth it.

    Which scene was your favorite?

    All of it.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It definitely made me uneasy at times... and laugh a few times.

    "A profound journey"

Coelho is not an "easy" writer to absorb, so I am taking this listening in small doses. There are many layers of understanding that he deals with, and his descriptions of them are amazing.

    "Didn't do it for me"

My friends had told me they loved this book but I could not get to the end of it and I feel the reading didn't help but the book itself is also not for me. It seemed the same voice was being used for anyone who was not the main character but I couldn't feel any sense of drama or emotion.
