The Developer’s Code isn’t about the code you write, it’s about the code you live by.

This is the next “Pragmatic Programmer”—a guide for the beginner, a reminder for the expert, and a wonderful chunk of wisdom about the craft (and life) of a developer.

"for an audiobook its decent
I would only give this three stars tops if not in audiobook format. I like to listen to lectures while driving to stay sharp on courses I already have studied. In this category I would recomend "The Pragmatic Programmer" because well as simple as that book appears to be it can be kind of a Bible to someone like myself whose only been programming a little over a year however, while I totally would buy an audio copy for review theres a lot of excersizes that people should do to get more out of it.. This book however, may be considered a decent warm up book being that the other one doesnt exist in this format. Some of the lingo of this book is really great from a conceptual perspective therefore someone in more of a managerial role who who would like some fluff vocabulary in ideal scenerios where you you have too many contingencies to follow this to a T may find this even more useful. The author does a great job of breaking things down simply it just lacks elements of depth I was hoping for if this were only a physical copy as id only read this once. Still Reconmend
"One of the most forward thinking software books"
I read and listen too a lot of software books and topics. Books like code complete paved the way to how I approached designing my code and thinking like a good programmer should. That book was and still is great. However since that book was written, it seems many books just say the same thing a different way. We need to keep innovating and keep thinking forward as our industry grows and changes. I think this book hits on some of the more controversial subjects that I'm sure some programmers that have had success doing things a different way will disagree with. You must keep an open mind to all strategies and really think about solutions to problems and rethink and reevaluate ideas that maybe you have dismissed in the past. I like the arguments presented in this book and really think that anyone in the software industry should listen to it.
"Good analysis of Programmers"
A useful analysis of the mind of a programmer and the image problems we had before we became the uber powerful big shots we are today.
"Puts the programming life in full perspective"
great book. set me on the right path. I understand the development process that much better.
With 15+ years of experience I was surprised that I failed to disagree with any of the advice offered by the author. A very easy and straightforward listen.
Many of the included essays turned out to be quite insightful. One can easily relate them to everyday work of a developer.
"Great insight into the developer's world"
