Debbie Ford explains that the dark side of our personality should not be hidden. By denying our dark side, we reject these aspects of our true natures rather than giving ourselves the freedom to live authentically. Here she shows that it is possible to acknowledge and accept our so-called weaknesses, proving that these qualities may be important, hidden strengths. For example, perhaps some "selfishness" can save us from exhaustion and resentment.
Full of illuminating stories and practical exercises, Debbie Ford shows us how to reconcile our darker impulses and find the gifts they offer. Your life will be transformed when you unconceal, own, and embrace your shadow.

What we often DON'T LIKE in someone else is often a mirror of something we don't like about ourself!

"That Which Does Not Kill You Will Make You Strong"
Challenges are Valuable
The example of the discovery of the golden Buddah that had been covered with clay.
By performing this herself, she was able to add a personal dimension that helped me better understand not just the concepts that she was trying to explain, but also the emotional context that accompanies them.
If we do not stop complaining and take the time to search for and find the gift that is hidden in every trial in life, we will get double smacked by the experience, because we will suffer needlessly and also won't receive the valuable lessons that are there for our growth and enjoyment.
This is one of those love it or hate it kind of books. It invites you to stretch yourself, and to see life from a very different perspective. If you choose not to absorb and embrace its concepts, you will be choosing the short end of the stick. GREAT BOOK!
Could have saved me from years of pain. I have listened intently three times now.
I loved this book. I have had 2 different personal life coaches and this book helped me to solidify some of the concepts and things I started working on with them. it truly dives into who you are as a person and allows you to see the beauty in every aspect of yourself.

Fabulous meditations and cleverly put together. It was just what I needed to help me through a really terrifying time. I felt as though I had just jumped if a cliff with no safety nets or harness. I found it a fabulous tool to assist me in a break through. Highly recommend
