Speak: So Your Audience Will Listen is an audiobook for anyone who has to deliver a message, tell a story - or speak to another human being.
Most of us are quite relaxed and confident when we're with our friends and family. We can tell a story or even tell a joke. But put us on a platform and we can feel very different. When we speak to an audience, we often put on a public mask; and use a different voice. Why can't we seem to be ourselves when we give a talk?
In this audiobook, we will look at all aspects of spoken communication, from structure right through to delivery. We will learn how to have a conversation with our audience - to be ourselves - so that we connect with them every time we speak. In seven simple steps, you can learn to be a confident and successful public speaker. There are specific exercises at the end of every section for you to practice.
Whether you're a CEO presenting to shareholders, a manager motivating your team, an entrepreneur selling a business, a creative pitching an idea, a charity worker asking for donations, or a parent speaking at your daughter's wedding, this audiobook will help you become a confident and successful public speaker, so that when you speak, your audience will listen.
And, hopefully, you'll enjoy the experience too.

"Great book! I used it to calm myself down before a presentation"
Great book! I used it to calm myself down before a presentation. It really worked and help me think of different ways to present.
"Informative and Insightful"
Will listen again!
Author/narrators are not usually my favourite choice, but Robin Kermode does a lovely job. He has a pleasant voice and does not digress into self congratulatory ramblings.
The explanation for our physiological reactions to stage fright is brilliant. The author then goes on to provide very concrete ways to deal with this phenomenon.
In brushing up on technique to teach public speaking to my 4-H club I picked up this audio book. It was well worth my time and money. Very practical information with examples that are real and make sense.
This was a great book, especially if you're giving a lot of speeches in front of large groups. There was still some pretty great stuff in here even if you're not a lecturer or something similar.
Audio is great for this one because he gives some exercises for you to do to work on your speaking and he actually does it with you in the audio. That was awesome. (Some of them are a little ridiculous and you feel less ridiculous when he's doing it right along with you.)
I am all for audiobooks where authors read their own books because you get the right emphasis and flow of the book that they were going for. His accent threw me off a little at first (just because I wasn't used to accents in the books) but it's really not a problem at all. It's actually nice to change things up a bit!
It's a good read if you're nervous about speaking in front of large groups!
"Wow! Loved it !"
Excellent audio book for me ever! Lots of useful tips, great content ! Plan to replay again soon. I was surprise that some well rated audio book caused side effect such as sleepiness or boredom but NOT THIS ONE!! Strongly recommended!
"A lot of useful tips"
I found a lot of useful tips in the book not seen in others. Especially exercises and physical motions to do to get rid of jitters.
This is by far the most useful, practical & insightful book I've ever listened to on public speaking!
It should be compulsory reading (and/or listening) for all entrepreneurs & speakers.
May you be blessed for sharing your wisdom & experience on the topic, Robin!
"Worth listening to!"
The information was excellent, organized and delivered well. He covered not only what a person would expect on a book on speaking, bit very helpful behind the scenes info. I want to purchase the hard copy so I can physically reread certain sections.
clear, and he is a wonderful speaker
very good hints, really very well written
"GREAT BOOK, GREAT SPEAKER, GREAT INFO!!"
GREAT BOOK, GREAT SPEAKER, GREAT INFO!! I will be recommending to anyone interested in public speaking, making phone calls or even dating.
"if you have the speaking Jitters this is the book"
this book is excellent it touches on all the complications of speaking in public and gives very helpful tips
"Great for speakers or even online presentations"
A good listen!
I don't do much public speaking, but do send daily emails to a large list with info, tips and obviously marketing. This book has managed to give some great tips to cover both sides.
Helpful from - hoe to prepare for a talk, removing dry mouth, shortness of breath etc, to how to stand/ move for confidence and clarity.
Equally good ways to open talks:speeches , ending, how to structure information and deal with "troublesome questions" etc
A good listen
"Excellent content and brilliant presentation"
I thought this talking book does everything it says on the cover and is so easy to listen to. I have learned a lot from this and would recommend to all.
This is the first time I have ever recommended anything but thought it deserves it.
"Logical, helpful, superb"
At last a self-help book on public speaking that does just what it says on the cover. A methodical approach yet entertaining and certainly very useful. I've listened on audiobooks twice already, and each time another point sinks in. This really works. Take it slowly and then put into good use.
"Clear, practical, and specific"
This was the very first book I downloaded here in Audible and I certainly did not regret it. I do occasionally give lectures to students and I'd say the pointers given here will change my delivery and stage presence all for the better. This is an audio book that is really worth it!
Found this book to be very practical and ran at a comfortable pace.
Very practical tips and guides in helping to prepare well and respond on the day. Has helped my thinking and provides some really good methods to adopt.
"Good, very good."
This is much more than a book about public speaking. Worth every penny and more.
"Quite a good book."
I do quite a few presentations so I decided to buy this audiobook. It is really quite comprehensive and touches on a lot of things. There are many useful pieces of information you can take from it. The author narrates the book but his voice is a little dull at times - still props to him for going ahead with it. I'd probably rate the audiobook 6.5-7.5 out of 10.
"Shoot me now"
Simply the worst narrated book I have ever heard. I couldn't get past the first chapter, don't bother purchasing this.
