As a parent, you can't make friends for your children, nor can you prevent them from ever feeling hurt or upset. But with the right guidance, you can support them in learning how to solve problems, cope with feelings, and build satisfying relationships.
Raising Emotionally and Socially Healthy Kids gives you access to the same practical advice and actionable plans that Dr. Kennedy-Moore - an in-demand psychologist and author who serves on the advisory board for Parents magazine - shares with clients in her Princeton, New Jersey, practice. Drawing from the her extensive clinical experience - as well as personal experience as a mother of four - these 12 lectures provide a deeper understanding of your child's development and ways to address common stumbling blocks with compassion.
In the first half, you'll focus on emotional intelligence and the pivotal role parents can play in helping children understand and cope with their feelings. You'll discover strategies for managing early-childhood meltdowns; simple techniques to inspire cooperation; constructive ways to deal with back-talk, aggression, and unkind behavior; methods to help children cope with anxiety; and more.
In the latter half, you'll turn to social intelligence and the challenges children face in making friends, plus practical ways you can guide them through the process. Here, you'll explore how you can support your child in getting along with others; being a good sport; handling conflicts; dealing with bullying; and coping with gossip and cliques.
You'll conclude with a candid discussion of friendship in the digital age, looking at video game playing and the relatively new but troubling phenomena of cyberbullying and "Facebook depression".

"Enjoyable. Will listen to this again and again."
An excellent "read." I will listen to this several times more as my children encounter various stages in their development. The author includes great explanations and practical suggestions for implementation. Very helpful book and I would recommend it to anyone!
"Not a lot of new information"
Some good ideas, most of which I have heard before. I listened to the course Scientific Secrets for Raising Kids who Thrive and it had a lot more science-backed recommendations, which I prefer.
"Pleasant narrator and very good information"
I have read about this topic before and still learned quite a bit. There is a lot of relevant examples and useful tips for problem solving.
"kids don't come with a manual"
it is a good book over all helps in moment of despair while u are trying to raise happy kids
no charecters this is not fiction
this is the first
get kids to learn to reminisce and re live good times and memories
"Just another parenting book"
This wasn't a bad book but I've read a lot of parenting books. I like to learn new things and this one was pretty generic and along the same lines as most of the rest. If it's your first parenting book I think it's probably not a bad book! If you've read a bunch of parenting books I would skip this one.
"What a great lecture for parents"
This was such a good lecture that I'll listen to it again. It helps parents
understand the way their children think and how to bring up their child.
"Good narration, personal anecdotes, great lessons"
Great for new parents, especially if you feel you don't have time to read a book about it... hearing Dr. Kennedy-Moore's lectures fill your commute time in a way similar to having a family therapist right in your car with you!
I enjoyed listening this audio book. Good examples of real life and recommended techniques to improve our children social skills. Thanks
This lecture was awesome. I recommend for all parents. I really connected with stories and content. A must listen. Wonderful
I have not taken a comparative looks at the literature, but she seemed to have a mature mastery of the material. It would have been nice to have more 'deconstructive' arguments against common unhealthy practices.
"Simple steps yet so meaningful"
Excellent narration by Dr. Eileen Kennedy-Moore. I was able to connect to her voice, reflect during her pause, smile at her personal experiences and trust her professional approach.
The content was a well balanced mixture of old and new.
"Old" approach as we already put them into practise. It was comforting to hear and also presented sometimes with interesting research.
New part is expected and was presented and back up with research and valuable personal experiences.
It takes time to change old habits. It was a perfect balance of old and new for me. I don't feel overwhelmed by the changes I am willing to make.
My boys turn 8 and 6, six months ago and I needed a refresher to share with my wife and feel more confident about supporting our children in being emotionally and socially healthy human beings. This audio lectures are definitely helpful.
"must listen for parents"
wow..by far the most useful lecture on parenting. Eileen does a great job articulating the fantastic content.
