"You won't make any money from self-publishing." MYTH! The Internet has revolutionized every business it has come into contact with, and publishing is no different. For the first time, these changes are handing power back to the writer. It's up to YOU if you want to profit from them.
Let's Get Digital: How to Self-Publish, and Why You Should (Updated 2nd Edition) covers everything from how the disruptive power of the Internet has changed the publishing business forever to the opportunities this has created for writers. It gives you practical, hands-on advice, sharing the very latest best practices on editing, cover design, formatting, and pricing. It gives you proven marketing strategies that won't eat into your writing time and are actually effective at selling books. It also shares tips on platform building, blogging, and social networking, and explains which approaches are best for selling fiction versus nonfiction, and what writers should really focus on.
This new updated 2nd edition now has more options for those on a tighter budget, teaches you how to get your book into print (and why that helps selling eBooks), tells you why you should start a mailing list immediately, and shares the pros and cons of going exclusive with Amazon.
And that's just for starters.

"Let's Get Digital is a must read for anyone considering self-publishing." (J. A. Konrath, best-selling author of Trapped, Origin, and Whiskey Sour.)
Zak the Writer/Reader/Farmer
If you are thinking about publishing using a digital method or even if your heart is set on traditional publishing then this could be a valuable read. Even if it's simply to get you thinking more broadly. Towards the end is an indepth listing of writers experiences with current links to webpages. It tells of individual cases of being published via what was the untraditional path but is now becoming the norm. This book lists many resources and although the list itself may age over time the writers experiences should remain relevant.
"Full of great tools and good advice"
As a first time e book publisher this book was golden. Narrator was easy to listen to. Organization was logical.
"Great Introduction to the Self-Publishing Market"
The first two-thirds of this book describe the current marketplace and why it's a great time to be a writer, and the last third of the book offers case studies of people who have found success in publishing by going their own way instead of relying upon the traditional publishing model. This books provides a great overview and motivation for becoming a self-publisher and is worth a read for any author that wants their words to be read.
Simon Whistler did a great job narrating the text.
"Helpful for new digital authors"
Lots of tips I will use, worth the money if starting out. Wish eBook was included with audible version, so I can find resources like author exact spelling of name and URLs.
I found this to be the best and most thorough education I even received on self publication. It was concise and precisely to the point. Very well written and inspirational. I read this book over 20 times; once I passed the 10th time, I read for encouragement. However, I am still learning awesome things even though I've read it so much. As far as the things I've learned already, David wrote this book in such a way that old lessons are refreshing! A Fantastic Book indeed!
"Updated bible for self publishers"
Current, Helpful, Practical
The success stories toward the end were inspiring and worth the price of admission.
If you're already a successful self publisher, there is less here for you, as much of it is devoted to being a guide for beginners. Even so, there were nice reminders and the true stories of real self-pubbers were excellent.
"You can publish your own books!"
The narrator did an excellent job. Very easy to listen to.
I read this and Write Publish Repeat one after the other. Both were fantastic. Highly recommend for anyone considering self publishing. Will be downloading Kindle to refer back to and maybe even a physical copy as well. Simon Whistler is a great great great narrator as well.
"comprehensive and very helpful"
I read a number of self-publishing books and this ranks up there in quality with the one guy Kawasaki did
"InvAluable and inspiring"
Really sceptical, but this has inspired me to live a dream. Superb narration too!
Full of info and inspiration, I'll be listening to this several times.
"So, so helpful and beautifully read. "
This was another right book, right time for me. Really well written and not only packed with information about self publishing but also don't with encouragement to do so. I came across it because I was searching for more books narrated by Simon, so I could listen to forever, and this one but the spot. Thanks, both of you for doing what you do with such flourish.
