This book will rock your beliefs about fear, security, and taking risks.
In Movement There Is Peace is a powerful tale of travel, adventure, and unexpected faith. It begins with a doctor who walks away from her practice in order to cure her own paralyzing anxiety. Once free, she discovers that leaving is really only fleeing if there's no new direction. Could this be the reason for her husband's sudden inspiration?
"I want us to walk the Camino de Santiago; it's an 800-kilometer pilgrimage across Spain."
After deliberating the wisdom of walking 500 miles with no planning or physical conditioning and little religious faith, the two set off to walk the "Way of Saint James". Their "no-plan" plan sets off a series of extraordinary events that can only be explained as divine intervention. It starts with an enigmatic suggestion from a former pilgrim who sends them off with a caution: "There are no coincidences on the Camino."
The tale itself is a funny, fascinating pilgrim's progress seeded by unique characters and full of amazing surprises. Follow along the pilgrim's path as it shares its secrets on how to:

"What a journey!"
It was good to hear Elaine and Joe in their own voices and words. You really heard the struggles they were going through and felt the physical and emotional pain by hearing it.
The movie The Way, but this was more detailed
I could hear Elaine's voice crack near the end and really felt she was at a breaking point, but the serenity and cal;m that she found also showed through. The walk kept me riveted and I felt like I was walking with them. I want to do this myself someday.
Both the male and female narrators did an excellent job. I actually thought that they were the authors until I looked it up. I will look for more books that they narrate. They seemed to have a great connection.
"Thank you a pilgrim I hope to be"
Absolutely inspiring, their openly raw journey moved me to begin preparing for my Camino
A true story of love hope and sacrifice
A must read!
Enjoyed immensely this book. I found it very moving. Something I will listen to more than once. Great book for hikers too. Applies to any long hike I think. Is not the outdoors always a spiritual and personal experience?
"I loved every step!"
The subtle humour and authenticy of the writer's voices. Elaine and Joe take you on a very personal experience and let the reader feel like you are there too. A wonderful book about the Camino De Santiago....I too watched The way and read the Pilgrim by Paulo Coehlo and this book ranks up there with them!! Well done Elaine and Joe!
Both main characters were great, I was able to relate to each one at different stages and phases of their journey. I felt a connection with each of them and when I do the Camino De Santiago I'm going to write and let them know......who knows maybe they'll meet up with me like Dan did in the end..
Yes perfect voice!
That when I do my Camino to give myself the space & permission to stop when need to stop and stay at a private Lodging/hotel or Alberge without making myself wrong for choosing comfort if needed....thank you for that.
I have listened to this book a few times over because I learn something new about myself when I do. I want to do this pilgrimage for the last 2 yrs with every fiber of my being but I have 2 kids 11 & 13 and a husband that said he will only come if we ride bikes so that is his way and I know that I do not want to share my Way on those terms....does that make me inflexible? I guess that's one of the things I will learn along the way....do not worry or control the outcome and just let things unfold naturally.... since I understand this concept I have not pushed an outcome for I know it will happen in its perfect time. I use your book to fill a spot in my heart until I am able to take my walk. I am so thankful that you wrote this book and that you followed your path, it has given me more umph to follow my path....I did start riding my bike to work while listening btw and it felt a little like I was there when I would stop and have a drink of water and I'd close my eyes imagining the hot sun, and dusty boots and heavy pack on my back, the sweat dripping from under my backpack that I wear to ride but I just don't have the sore feet.....lol I'll save that for the real thing.....Buen Camino! Lol....Sincerely Carla Elliott
"Great "walk" with Joe and Elaine"
I truly enjoyed this book. Listening to the story on Audible as I walked helped to motivate me in my new walking regimen. It felt like I was walking with people who understood that it is difficult to get moving after such a long period of inactivity. There were times, though, that I turned off the story just to listen to the birds and wind and traffic. The story is inspiring and has started me thinking of my next experience/adventure.
"Inspiring to the max!"
This was an awesome book. Every bit of it brought images and feelings as if I were on the Camino with the authors. I was already planning to walk the Camino and this served as a big motivator to actually work to make the trip happen! Thank you so much for sharing your story and experiences.
"A Must REAT!"
The whole book was good
Everytime they needed, the trail provided.
The narrators did an excellent job. The emotion they put into the reading of this book made me feel like it was their own story.
Not to rush life!
book. I really was not sure how much I would enjoy it, as sometimes religious type books gan get a bit preachy. No worries with this book. It is so inspiring. I really liked the way both authors told of their separate but joined experiences on the trail.
I will listen to this book again and again. That is how much I loved it and I know I will get a lot out of it each time I listen to it.
"Now I want to do it myself!!!!!"
YES!!!! This audiobook is a powerful and moving travel guide to the Camino and everything about it made me want to do it.
You can hear the emotion and uncertainty and growth in their voices. The narration was great and I especially felt Elaine's questioning and pain and sometimes fear.
They were perfect for the roles and I'd like to listen to more of their audiobooks.
YES!!!! I WANT TO DO THE CAMINO!!!
"What was the deal with her feet?"
I did the last 110 km of The Camino with a group of someone, most over 65 years old. I know people who have done the whole thing. Never has anyone complained about feet as much as Elaine did. Geez. Bad boots, or something. Anyway, story seemed a little too perfect in terms of their emotional experiences, the religious fulfillment, the promesa, etc. I preferred hearing about the experiences of the trail itself, the food, the scenery, the history, the people they met. All the angst was a little much.
"Best Camino book I've read"
I've listened and read a number of books written that pay homage to the Camino de Santiago, but none as enticing as this book. It makes me even more eager to experience the Camino and the spiritual journey of the Way. Highly recommended for those who are planning the journey and those who are not. Much to learn either way.
