"A must read for anyone in stress"
I got this book as a place to start in CBT. I was surprised on how much was packed on the first 30 minutes of listening. Everyone should get this. This is one of the most revolutionary transformations I've ever experienced in my lifetime with such simple ideas. It gives you the tools to make sense of everything that happens to you.
This book will become your new best friend.
"Wish it were Unabridged"
They go through all the material so fast I just wish they could have covered more of what is in the book. It would be nice to have more examples and clarification. Somehow I didn't realize the book was abridged until I finished it. I just wish there was an unabridged version available.
Productive suggestions are provided for living a happier more fulfilling life. Action steps are defined to help a person take a more constuctive, positive appraoch to solving their problems and resolving emotional difficulties.
Since this is a learning self help book, it helps one to become their own therapist of sorts. A lot of good analogies provided but no main characters are described.
It is over two and one half hours in duration it certainly is interesting enough to listen to all in one session. I have listened to the entire audio many times now in it's entirety and plan to listen to it again to reinforced the principles of CBT. With each listen I gain another insight to improve the way I view a particular situation.
Perhaps if the audio was longer and the author had gone into more examples to help absorb the principles it would have been better.
Had some good tips and some good insight, and wasn't that demanding of a listen.
It was good, basic but still good. I would recommend it as a starter book but definately doesnt go into detail.
"Very Useful Book"
I wanted to find out about Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. So I purchased this book. I am very much impressed by the content. This is a solid book. There are no useless sentences. Every sentence means something.
No. In fact, this book laid a good foundation on the subject of CBT. I am planning to explore more on this subject. Unfortunately, in this series, I realized there is not much choice. Although, I do not like the name of the book, " For Dummies", I am going to finish all of them on this subject and in this series available.
Simon Slater's voice really suited to this audio book. I liked it very much. In some instances, he is little bit faster. May be, that's me.
I am surprised that I finished this book in no time. This book was so interestingly written, I could not stop listening until I finished it. You need to listen to this book again and again and in between to get more out of this book. Every penny spent is worth in buying this book.
Some good rational ideas that work. Didn't finish it because I was healed after half an hour.
"Great book, right to the point!"
Easy to understand and apply. Narrator is British but interesting. Great book, right to the point!
A very nice introduction to cognitive behavioral therapy. I do recommend this book to anyone interested in self improvement.
"Great starter book for CBT"
I have listed to this book several times and put many of the lessons to practice. The book brings up great points and the narrator is enjoyable to listen to.
"Not the full book"
Having quite a bit of time on my hands I was expecting lots of detailed information (knowing this is not a small subject to have a book on). Unfortunately the audiobook all went too quickly and then noted to the listener at the end that 'this was just a taster to inspire you to buy the full dummies book for all the details of CBT'
Hence I felt a bit short-changed. And as I dont fancy paying for the book in addition to the audiobook, this was probably a bit of a waste of money.
However, the information that is carried across in the audiobook is well presented, just not everything!
"CBT for Dummies"
This book swiftly outlines the key components of CBT and in doing so, arms the reader with highly valuable and usable tools to fight negative thoughts and reflexes.
"Good Clear Basic Introduction"
I prefer audio books but on the other hand this is the abridged so the book wood go into more depth.
This audiobook is an absolute excellent introduction to CBT. Easy enough to follow, but yet engaging revealing and at times enlightening to the human condition. The narrator was a joy to listen to, so overall a very worthwhile addition to anyone's library who is interested in this theory.
"Impossible to download."
Being able to download it. The -helper file was unreadable.
I lost nearly £7, so will not try again.

"what's the point in this?"
Half a book! Why bother with listening to a little if, to get all the information, you need to buy the book anyway?
A life changing way to look at 'negative thinking'. Narrated in a friendly, calming manner.
