Wonder is the funny, sweet and incredibly moving story of Auggie Pullman. Born with a terrible facial abnormality, this shy, bright ten-year-old has been home-schooled by his parents for his whole life, in an attempt to protect him from the stares and cruelty of the outside world. Now, for the first time, Auggie is being sent to a real school - and he's dreading it. The thing is, Auggie's just an ordinary kid, with an extraordinary face. But can he convince his new classmates that he's just like them, underneath it all? Through the voices of Auggie, his big sister Via, and his new friends Jack and Summer, Wonder follows Auggie's journey through his first year at Beecher Prep. Frank, powerful, warm and often heart-breaking, Wonder is a book you'll read in one sitting, pass on to others, and remember long after the final page.

The book has a great story. I felt the voice for August was extremely annoying and detracted from the story. I would have stopped listening if I didn't need to hear it.
The speech about kindness is a stand out element of the book.
Yes, I would listen in a family group situation because of benefit of sharing with siblings in a similar situation to Olivia (via)
The different voices, and writing style
Both when Augie's father told him why he confiscated his astronaut mask, and when the character who gave him the mask, Miranda, met him in the crowd at his sister's performance
Will listen to the next in series
A book that is guaranteed to take your child on an amazing journey - engrossing, entertaining, enlightening - there aren't enough superlatives you can apply to this book to do it justice.
It was kind of boring at first but started to get interesting as the characters grow up. I love Jack's part the most as I can relate to him. And it gets me reary with daisy death. Well done for a children book.
"Great Story - didn't love the narrator"
No question, this is a good novel. I question though the choice of narrator. The narrator is a woman, the main charcter is a 10 year old boy. The narrator puts on a voice, to try and sound like a 10 year old boy. In my opinion, she sounds, at times, like those chain smoking aunts from The Simpsons. The narrator definitely affected my enjoyment of the audiobook. I preferred reading the novel.
"Good story- shame about the narrator!"
I loved the fact that it was told by the point of view of different characters. Very interesting
No way! The main character August's narrator had such an annoying voice!! I suggest you listen to the preview first!
No emotional attachment, but it was good. I wouldnt bother to read it again.
Not a bad book, just bad readers! The main characters narrator was just terrible - be warned! If you can see past that then give it a go. It has sad moments, happy moments and the story isnt complicated. It just plods along at a good pace.
very well written and very good feel good factor lots of highs lots of lows the narrattor is really bad though. i wont listen to her again i nearly gave up because her voices were so bad
"Story the best"
It was very very good I like it so I recommend it to all my family and friends
"So far from wonderful"
After all the amazing reviews, I was looking forward to this, but it left me cold.
No. The main character was annoying self-centred and whiny.
No. I actually tried to listen to this several times, and I finally got about two thirds of the way through before I gave up with a sigh of relief.
Yes, I understand that Auggie's two syndromes make his life unbelievably hard, but he's such a whiner that I wanted to throttle him. He doesn't like it if people look at him. Or if they don't look at him. He claims to want to be treated normally, but then blames everyone around him for not treating him with kid gloves. He blames everyone else for everything. Thoroughly unpleasant and I have no idea how this got so many good reviews.
"Really really good"
I read the book and was a bit sceptical but it was so good 5 stars
"Amazing story line!"
Love it because it's full of family fun! Everyone thought it was an amazing book.
"An emotional roller coaster"
the story was told and acted out beautifully by the narrators.
Obviously it has to be Auggie..... absolutely brilliant
I felt i was a part of the story, It was like I was there.
I've been listening to it for ages. I fined it amazing. I think it is an amazing book.
"A Joyful read!"
I really enjoyed listening to this book but equally enjoyed reading it.
Dibs in search of self. This book leaves one with a similar feeling even though the theme is different.
They were equally professional.
Watch me grow.
I loved this book! I am not an emotional type but I can honestly say I was moved to tears as read parts of it. I urge all adults to read or listen to this wonderful story.
The character is adorable. The story is very engaging
I didn't wan't the story to finish
