Didnt really go anywhere
A few too many vulgar references for me. The story was one angle and not intertwined with the other. Narration was a pleasure to listen too.

OUTSTANDING!
A great story... So very different to the usual.. And the pace and intonation of the reading was perfect. Thanks to the ABC interview today for introducing me to Nick Earls as a writer.

Great read
Enjoyed this story the whole way through, but particularly liked the unexpected final plot twist.

Really got me in the end
I really wasn't sure about this at the start, why did I care about the indulgent life of a rap star or brat which is how he really comes across.
But when the beautiful Ariel came into the picture, the contrast was amazing, how lucky some people appear even when they dont come across as deserving compared to those innocents who can't seam to catch a break.
The joy portrayed in the park from both father and daughter was outstanding and the slide scene brought me to tears.

Unexpected gem
I've always appreciated Nick Earls for his patiently emotional style. I decided to listen to this without reading the blurb, and my only disappointment was that it had to eventually end.

Boring
Bought this because of the Author being Australian. Should come with a 'soft porn' rating. I'm not a prude by any means but this was just a bit gross. The story hasn't gone anywhere yet and I have 40 minutes left, Won't be finishing this one. I'm guessing you have to finish it to get to the "great story" that so many have said in their reviews.

Odd encounter with rapper
This did not grab me greatly, though I admired Nick Earls' skill with dialogue. A lot of it seemed trivial, and I kept wondering where it was going. I did get with it about half way through, and the ending is worth waiting for. Rhys Muldoon's reading was competent though not at the top level for Audible readers.

Didn’t expect this audio to make me cry!
Nick Earls has succeeded in creating an emotional roller coaster ride of a story. Started with a discomfort and distaste of ‘Nasty’, then provided literary allusions to make me think, then - bam - I was in tears at the end! A must read for anyone questioning what is important in our lives!
