"Every mum's worst nightmare - Zoe is a brilliant character, and Samantha Hayes turns up the heat with Claudia's fears to such an extent that you can't help feeling the same terror she feels. Absolutely riveting, you won't want to put this one down!" (Books Monthly)
"A tense thriller that will have you looking over your shoulder!" (Candis)
"by far the best thriller I’ve read since Gone Girl… This is a genuine (and scary) page-turner about mothers and want-to-be-mothers who are not what they seem. There is a stunning plot twist - I couldn’t put it down." (Read Make Cook)
"For any fans of Gone Girl, this startling novel is a must-read... a terse and thrilling read not to be missed" (Psychologies)
"If you only take one book on holiday with you it has to be Until You’re Mine by Samantha Hayes. It’s a totally unputdownable thriller that will keep you gripped to your sun lounger until the very end. And just when you think you’ve figured things out, watch out for the twist!" (Cosmopolitan.co.uk)
"I've always wanted a baby...it's been an ache deep in my soul for as long as I can remember, a sickness, a malignant desire..." Hooked yet? Give it a couple more pages and you will be. Hayes third novel is a classic cuckoo in the nest tale with a disturbing twist... This book is almost impossible to review without spoilers, so I won't. All I can say is, you won't see it coming." (HarpersBazaar)
This was a great listen. It sucks you into the story from the first chapter and you are hooked till the end. Not predictable at all and you will enjoy it immensely. Highly recommend!
Mother of two boys, love listening to my audible books in the car on the way to work.
This was a great listen on my morning commute to work. It kept me in the car a little longer to finish a chapter and see what happens.
No comparison yet
She is a fantastic narrator. I went searching after this book to find others as i love her voice and how she makes the characters come alive.
I would love the time to listen in one sitting - was very entrancing and you want to read in one sitting.
This book keeps you in suspense till the end. Great plot.
I Love listening to audiobooks when doing the monotonous housework...
this ones good. will look out for other S Hayes thrillers. This book didn't disappoint and there were at least 3 twists I had not worked through..Not mindblowing but a good storyline and would score between a 4 and a 5 .narrator good too.
"Nice holiday listen (except if you're pregnant)"
Yes, but not the ones about to have a baby. It's for fans of books like Gone Girl.
I saw it coming early on and unfortunately think it would have been better to read because the voices gave away the twist before you're meant to know what's going on. I think this is the first time ever a thriller twist hasn't worked in audio.
I love how her voice rose and fell to indicate tension, confusion, etc.
It's a great holiday read but if you've read other books in this genre you'll figure out the twist early on. Still, I wanted to see how it played out and that was enjoyable enough.
"Creepy and fast moving"
Yes, definitely. I love psychological thrillers and this was a good one.
I thought she was good
There were a couple of moments when I switched off but mostly I was drawn into the story.
"One of the best EVER"
Both would be great.
If I could I would have.
This is a book that keeps the reader guessing all the way, changing their minds about the characters and their secrets. It is well written and paced perfectly. Please Audible....can we have some more Samantha Hayes, I know she has written many more but only the one on Audible.
"Really good read"
One of the best books I have listened to recently
I liked the twist at the end
I enjoyed the ending
"Liked this very much"
No - I never listen to books again as a rule. I enjoyed the plot and the 'twist' at the end, so now I now how it all ended, I would have no desire to re-listen
The final scenes, where the 'twist' was revealed (although there were a few clues building as the booked reached its end). The ending and explanation was somewhat improbable/ unlikely, but enjoyable nonetheless. I don't want to give the plot away, so I won't say any more but it was very enjoyable.
I can't pick out one scene more than any other. It was very well written and well performed. I liked the way the narration switched from one character to the other and the narrator did a good job of projecting the different personalities of the various characters.
Too tricky to put into a tag-line! But if I were to summarise, it is about what happens when the maternal urge drives a woman to take desperate measures...
This audiobook started off pretty well and for the first half, despite the now rather tired psychological thriller setting, I was gripped. However it became rather tedious, farcical and unbelievable. At times it was well written but in places it was simple, cliche ridden chick lit. Also, I really did not like any of the characters and found it hard to summon up any interest in their lives.
Clare Corbett is one of my favourite narrators and on the whole she narrates this well. However, the voice of Claudia really grated on me and the male voices were not quite convincing.
Yes there could definitely be a follow up. I think Samantha Hayes has prepared us for this by introducing the detectives Lorraine and Adam and exploring their personal lives.
"Predictable, easy listen"
I have read another of Samantha Hayes' novels before. The stories are quite similar, the 'thriller' aspect is still in its early stages with this writer, but the books make for good entertainment and several storylines come together well at the end. Worth the purchase
"I would give 6 stars if I could!"
This is possibly the best audio book so far. The story is very unexpected and did not take the direction I was expecting. Often you can predict the twists- but not with this one!
Zoe. I knew there was something about her but wasn't sure what. Can't say more without giving it away!
Clare Corbett is one of my favourite narrators. Her accents are very good and believable- she brings the characters to life.
I was very surprised by the final twist!
This book has a great storyline and it's not exactly what you'd expect from the description !
"Riveting psychological thriller, with a neat twist"
The narrator is fantastic. She delineates each character clearly and keeps the characterisation taut.
Every mother's nightmare
Clare Corbett's performance was good enough for me to follow her as a narrator for future audible pleasure!
I've had so many nightmare audiobooks recently that I feel a bit concerned that if I put this down as straight 5 stars in all categories, it might be because it compares so favourably with such a load of nonsense. However I did enjoy this a lot, liked the story, liked the narration. A few ridiculous characters but thought it was great.
And then the next book i choose is another load of nonsense! One day I'll have a good run of decent books. Can't wait.
"such a great story."
keeps you guessing at every turn. Very well written with lots of twists. highly recommend
