Perhaps now they never will be.Stanton knows that a great and terrible war is coming. Story
A series of apparently random murders draws amiable, old-school Detective Mick Matlock into a world of sex, politics, reality TV and a bewildering kaleidoscope of opposing identity groups. Lost in a blizzard of hashtags, his already complex investigation is further impeded by the fact that he simply doesn’t ‘get’ a single thing about anything anymore. Meanwhile, each day another public figure confesses to having ‘misspoken’ and prostrates themselves before the judgment of Twitter. Begging for forgiveness, assuring the public 'that is not who I am'.

Story
For amiable city trader Jimmy Corby money was the new rock n' roll. His whole life was a party, adrenaline charged and cocaine fuelled. If he hadn't met Monica, he would probably have ended up either dead or in rehab. But Jimmy was as lucky in love as he was at betting on dodgy derivatives, so instead of burning out, his star just burned brighter than ever. Rich, pampered and successful; Jimmy; Monica; and their friends lived the dream, bringing up their children with an army of domestic helps.

The ultimate pop quest. Ninety-five thousand hopefuls. Three judges. Just one winner. And that’s Calvin Simms, the genius behind the show. Calvin always wins because Calvin writes the rules. Story
Few books have had such an impact as Wild Swans: a popular best seller and a critically acclaimed history of China that opened up the country to the world. Through the story of three generations of women in her own family - the grandmother given to the warlord as a concubine, the Communist mother, and the daughter herself - Jung Chang reveals the epic history of China's twentieth century. Breathtaking in its scope, unforgettable in its descriptions, this is a masterpiece that is extraordinary in every way.

Amazing book - powerful and confronting
Great story with one of the best narrations I have ever heard. Be warned this is not like Ben Elton’s other works. No jokes in this one. Just a very powerful story that everyone should listen to.

Horrible Setting, Brilliant Story
Ben Elton once again opens a door to a truly harrowing chapter of history in which he has set his fictional story. The events in this book are quite horrific but written so sensitively and with a methodical commitment to the truth of those times. Beautifully read as well.

Nothing to dislike other than I did not want it to end. Great narrating, amazing story, well written, capturing from the first chapter. Definitely in my top 5 of all time.

Enjoyable
I enjoyed this well researched and gripping book very much. It opened my mind to the incremental changes from the 1920s that lead to the holocaust. My only negative was the use of Monty Python cockney accents for many of the characters.

Wonderful
Ben Elton never writes a bad book. This story is wonderfully written and poignantly details an appalling part of our history.
It’s well read, though do agree with others that the Cockney accents for Germans didn’t quite fit the narrative, though not really sure what the alternative would be for an English speaking audiobook.
Highly recommended.

Incredibly well researched, gut-wrenching at times, must-hear story with a twist you'll never see coming.
