Publisher's Summary

Beards, brothers, and bikers! Oh my!

Identical twins Beau and Duane Winston might share the same devastatingly handsome face, but where Beau is outgoing and sociable, Duane is broody and reserved. This is why Jessica James, recent college graduate and perpetual level-headed good girl, has been in naïve and unhealthy infatuation with Beau Winston for most of her life. His friendly smiles make her tongue-tied and weak-kneed, and she's never been able to move beyond her childhood crush. Whereas Duane and Jessica have always been adversaries. She can't stand him, and she's pretty sure he can't stand the sight of her....

But after a case of mistaken identity, Jessica finds herself in a massive confusion kerfuffle. She has spent her whole life paralyzed by the fantasy of Beau and her assumptions of Duane's disdain; therefore she's unprepared for the reality that is Duane's insatiable interest, as well as his hot hands and hot mouth and hotter looks. Not helping Jessica's muddled mind and good girl sensibilities, Duane seems to have gotten himself in trouble with the local biker gang, the Iron Order.

Certainly, Beau's magic spell is broken. Yet when Jessica finds herself drawn to the man who was always her adversary, now more dangerous than ever, how much of her level-headed heart is she willing to risk?

Hallelujah for the Winston Brothers!

Would you consider the audio edition of Truth or Beard to be better than the print version?

The audio certainly adds another dimension to the book and in this instance, definitely enhances the reading experience!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Jessica definitely, I identified with her individual, quirky outlook on life.

Which character – as performed by Joy Nash and Chris Brinkley – was your favourite?

Duane, definitely. Chris and Joy did such an awesome job narrating Duane and all the characters.

Any additional comments?

What can I say?! This is my first book by Penny Reid and what a delightful, funny romp into the Tennessee hills. If you want hot & sexy as hell, enticing, sweet, funny & intriguing, this story was a breath of fresh air. The eclectic bunch of Winston Brothers have all become my favourites, but it was the dark and brooding, don't say much Duane that definitely caught my attention right off the bat. I like the gruff, silent types, because when you get under that armour you usual find a tender, protective, passionate hero and Duane was all that and more. I identified with Jessica a lot, feeling the pull of far off destinations, feeling like a round plug in a square hole. I definitely admired her tenacious grasp on her dreams and her individual non-conformance stance. Duane and Jessica together left me chuckling & breathing heavy. This is intelligent & witty writing at its best. If you listen to the audio's, please check these audio books out too, because the narrators do an excellent job! Can't wait to read and listen to the next book. Do yourself a favour 5 big stars

LOVED!

Truth or Beard is such a great start to a fantastic series - I first read this back in 2015 when it was initially released, and am currently doing ANOTHER reread of the entire series as I await (with SO MUCH excitement) the upcoming release of Beard With Me (book 6).

However, for the first time I'm listening to the Audiobook of Truth or Beard, and it is such a joy to listen to. Both of the narrators are fantastic, and I've one-clicked all the other audio's in the series as well.

This was an absolute delight to listen to. The narrators brought the characters to life so accurately that I felt I knew them and could see them in my mind. There is everything in this book, romance, drama and intrigue and so many laughs. Penny Reid I am in awe of your talent and your ability to spin such wonderful stories.

What’s his name again?

After reading this book you’ll never forget the name Duane Winston. That’s because his full name is mentioned endlessly. In fact whenever his lovesick girl refers to him for any reason. Other than that, the storyline was pretty weak. I do enjoy Penny Reid’s writing and loved the characters in the knitting series so I’m hoping book 2 will have a bit more of a plot.

Loved it

I've read all the Knitting in the City books and absolutely loved them. Penny Reid is a phenomenal author and human being. This is the first fictitious audio book I've ever listened to. I've always thought I preferred reading at my own pace, imagining how I thought the characters would sound. And I still do, but this book has opened a world of possibilities to me. You can bet your moustache I'll be buying the rest of this amazing series. The drive to work just got a whole lot better. 😊
