Barnabas Sackett was leaving England forever to find his fortune in the New World. But as he settled his affairs, he learned that a warrant from Queen Elizabeth had been sworn against him, and that men were searching for him in every port. At issue were some rare gold coins Sackett had found and sold, coins believed to be part of a great treasure lost by King John years before. Believing that Sackett possesses the rest of the treasure, the Queen will stop at nothing to find him. And if he's caught, Sackett will face torture, and even the gallows.

"Better than reading the book!"
We read the book a few years ago and enjoyed it immensely. But WOW! John Curless brought it to life and we enjoyed it immensely-er! If you have missed this one, check into getting this audio. It is three high fives......
"A good read!"
I guess one needs to like Louis L'Amour to really appreciate this book, but even if you've never read him it's worth the money, if you like historical novels. He's sensitive to the clash between the Indians and Europeans; yes, Indians. Regardless of what the politically correct say on this matter, "Native Americans" prefer the name Indian. Just ask one.
Anyway, go ahead and spend the money; I bet you won't be disappointed.
I have read all of his books and loved them all. I really enjoyed this book.
"still one of the best Sackett books ever."
Barnabus Sackett and his tales and still my favorite of all the sacketts. The way the story builds and progresses is phenomenal.
"My first Sackett book... other than the movies"
Gotta love the Sacketts... the narrator done a fantastic job. He brought the story to life... well done
"I enjoyed the story very much I can listen to it t"
I can't wait to get the rest of the books I heard there's like 40 some-odd books all together I can't wait you can listen to him time and time again
"sucks me right in"
As the story begins it seems like a rehashing of the previous volume. I wish there was more time put into story from the life in America and less just getting there. But I am forgiving and can let Louis take me on the journey regardless.
"America's story teller is right!"
