Another heartwarming tale of adventure
Victoria Hislop has captured my heart once again with her tale of a little girl lost. I loved every minute and cannot wait to listen to more historic fiction novels by her.

A beautiful story but very sad
I really enjoyed the book. It was well written and thoroughly researched. The characters were beautiful and you could feel their emotion. It was not an easy book to listen to as it was sad and heavy with not much light relief. I had to give it a rest every so often as I found it very black and gloomy. It did end up with a happy ending but even then it was tinged with sadness. Overall I did enjoy it and it was a beautiful book.

Not the best choice for a Narrator
Performance:
Somehow I cringed with every Greek word pronunciation. There was not even one word pronounced as it should have been and that took away from the narration of the book a thousandfold. Narrator should have been a greek-english bilingual for sure.
Story:
Well researched in terms of Greek-Turkish history and the persecution of Greek-Jews. It added to the story although I feel it didn't lift the story. It didn't intrigue me and was predictable all along the way. Its an very underwhelming book. I loved 'The island' but this book no, honest no.
Overall:
I could have gone without spending 11 hours listening to this book and i am glad it is over. Apologies Ms Hislop.
