Publisher's Summary

The sequel to Puzo's epic and brutal Mafia classic The Godfather. Once again Puzo brings the history of the Corleone family to life.

Michael Corleone's exile in Sicily is ending, but on the instructions of his father, The Godfather, he must bring back to him the young man known as Salvatore Giuliano - if he can find him.

At sea amid the treacheries of a brutal and unfamiliar land, Michael must find a way through the labyrinthine deceits that surround him while Giuliano prepares himself for a final confrontation with Don Croce, capo di capi of the Sicilian Mafia.

A novel of explosive suspense, heroic action - and evil on an epic scale.

In the hands of Mario Puzo's brilliantly sinister talent, the listener comes to know again the terrible magic of the Mafia.

Full cast?

The main narrator was very good. The females much less so. Did not sound good.

Worst quality audio I've ever heard on audible

The story is okay, well written but nothing to do with the Godfather story; more just an pretense to tell the story of Giuliano. Good story, just was expecting more to do with the original Godfather.

The worst audio quality I've ever come across. I had to reset the audio to 0.85x speed, or it just sounds weird, like it's on fast forward. There are no pauses at the ends of chapters; the next chapter sounds like a run-on sentence. All the speech timings are rushed.
The supporting audio actors almost all sound like they're being recorded through a phone from the 90s.
Still, enjoyable listen, just took me half the book to get used to it. I suggest you slow down the audio.

Slow it down

Not so bad if you slow it down to 0.75, seems to be a problem with how they recorded the performance at normal speed

Great Story, Appalling Narration

All they had to do was get Joe Mantegna, Richard Ferrone, or the other dude to read this and it would have been fantastic - but no - they had to get this white suit who appears to be on speed - augmented by a B Grade cast like a Mafia version of the Simpsons. It sounds ABSURD. Even so - I love Puzo and I'll listen to anything he's written - no matter how badly narrated. Omerta and the Last Don were superb - but the Godfather - read by Joe Mantegna - remains the original and best.
DO THE SICILIAN AGAIN WITH ONE GOOD READER - pleeeeese

Narration issues, decent story

There's been a lot of comments on the narration, but I found slowing it to .85% speed helped. The fake accents are a tad jarring but I didn't notice them as much as others.

The story itself is decent, if a bit too much like a historical drama rather than a mafia story. still, it was good fun.

Excellent

Great story. All performances were great. A lot different to movies but in the best way.

Narration

the narration of this book is absolutely awful. i had to stop listening at first chapter. the voice actors for the different characters are just terrible. not just their accents but their audio quality as well, like they were recorded separately to the main audio but in a garden shed using a potato.

Not recommended

I found this book to be extremely boring, however that could be due to the Narraters terrible voice overs. I tried to continue with the hope of some kind of improvement, it didn’t happen! only to be left with the thought of the hours I wasted... omg I will never get back

DNC

I was unable to complete this audio due to its poor audio which is a shame as I enjoyed the first instalment of the series

Flawed execution

I love The Godfather series and fell in love with the narrator on the first book, but the narrator in this one sounds like a news anchor rushing through the story, it's hard to enjoy the language. Further, the phoned in character voices are jarring and largely incorrect in their accents. Most sound more Greek than Italian.
