The wonderful new novel from Alex Brown, best-selling author of The Great Christmas Knit Off, perfect for fans of Trisha Ashley and Jill Mansell.
April Wilson is wondering what to do next - her life has been turned upside down after the loss of her husband so she's hoping to piece herself together again with a visit to her elderly great aunt, Edith.
Arriving in the rural idyll of Tindledale, she's dismayed to find Edith's cottage and the orchards surrounding it in a sorry state of disrepair. Edith seems to have lost interest completely, instead she's become desperate to find out what happened to her sister, Winnie, who disappeared during WWII.
April gets to work immediately, discovering that the orchard still delivers a bumper crop each year, and with the help of some of the villagers - including Matt, the enigmatic Farrier - begins to unravel the mystery of the missing Winnie. Slowly, April can feel things coming to life again - but can Orchard Cottage work its magic on her too?

"Speed up please"
Nice story but the narrator was reading way to slow. It made it hard to follow the different storylines.
A wonderful book. I laughed and cried. The authors note was especially wonderful. Well done.
I enjoyed this book immensely. Good storyline, written with compassion and humour. The narrators voice was easy to listen to. Good easy listen.
I bought this as a switch off book for the holidays and enjoyed the easy listening. However when the author explained the research behind the story at the end, her words actually brought tears to my eyes and made it very poignant.
"loved, loved, loved"
this book is really poignant story. from start to finish. just buy & see for yourself
I loved this book. it's not what you would call a page Turner. I. e. you can't wait to find out what happens next more like putting on a pair of comfy old slippers. I have it both on audible and kindle, so I listen to it when I'm in the car or walking and read before bedtime just the thing.
loved the story the characters were so real
the storyline very believable and kept giving joy and a bit of suspense
"A thought provoking book."
Not your usual chick lit book...so much more I felt. The novel touched on so many strong emotions.
I really liked and appreciated the authors note at the end of the book. Explaining references in the book that would have passed me by. Certainly intend to return to the truly brave people who were in her thoughts when the author wrote this book. Very engaging.
"What. Lovely story"
This book is well written and is such a lovely story. It is well read made me laugh and cry. More please Alex
the factual and continuity errors in this book make it a bad listen.
to the author - sorry, it was a nice idea, but please research the subjects you mention, errors in terminology, and continuity, auntie was dancing one week and in a wheelchair the next, horses wear headcollars, rafters are what holds up your roof, floor joists hold up your floor!
"Pure joy to read"
Loved this book from start to finish, could not put it down, made me laugh and cry
"A fab u louse read"
I wasn't sure at first, but after listening to a few chapters I really got into it and couldn't wait to hear more, the story line was fab and kept you guessing as to what was going to happen next, overall I really enjoyed it so I've bought the next book "The great village show " looking forward to getting stuck into that.
