Tell Sackett and his bride Ange came to Arizona to build a home and start a family. But on Black Mesa, something goes terribly wrong. Tell is ambushed and badly injured. When he finally manages to drag himself back to where he left Ange, she is gone. Desperate, cold, hungry, and with nothing to defend himself, Tell is stalked like a wounded animal. Hiding from his attackers, his rage and frustration mount as he tries to figure out who the men are, why they are trying to kill him, and what has happened to his wife. Discovering the truth will be risky. And when he finally does, it will be their turn to run.

I'm a huge L'amour fan, and this is one of his best books, in an incredible series
I love the sackett novels, I wish they would make more movies about them, great
"Good solid story"
I'm a fan of L'Amour especially the Sackett series and have read all of his books. I'm enjoying listening to the audio production versions. The reader does a great job. The only thing is there are several long pauses making one think something is wrong with the recording, just give it a minute or two and the story will resume.
"One of the best!"
This is one of my favorite Sackett stories by Louis Lamour! I have read the book and listened to the story a number of times. I especially enjoy David Strathairn's narration. If you haven't read the Sackett novels, do so! Start at the very beginning. Lamour truly brought his characters to life.
"A good book to listen to!"
If you are a Louis L'Amour fan than you'll like this book. It's very interesting to listen to. Mr. L'Amour does a very good work at developing the characters in this book.
"I wish I had read these 40 years ago w/ my grandpa"
Since I cannot go back in time to be with a no.1 fan of LL books, my grandpa Ben, these audio books make me feel like a kid with ideas of being a strong woman in the old west!
"Great Western Genre"
I like the Sacketts. This story is especially sweet in Tell's quest to find his kidnapped wife. I really like David Strathairns reading.
"Really like the series."
I have enjoyed Louis L'Amour;s novel in the past and he didn't disappoint in with this one.
