The black sheep of fallbrook is back... And he's in for the surprise of his life.
Former bad boy, now-decorated Army Ranger Brody McBride is home and on a mission: Find the woman he never should have left behind and right the wrong he did eight years ago.
When the man she loved broke her heart and skipped town, Rain Evans picked up the pieces. But along with heartbreak, Brody left her something infinitely better than she could have imagined: two beautiful daughters. One she gave birth to, and the other she rescued from the woman who helped destroy her relationship with Brody.
Brody is shocked to discover he's a father, and he's more determined than ever to win back Rain and protect his girls. Can they rekindle the love they once shared and become the family they were always meant to be? Or will a danger from their past return and ruin everything?

"Could have been much better"
The book kept my interest - but it could have been so much better. It had a great story line and so much promise - but the dialog and thought processes of the main characters was so repetitive it made them seem almost pathetic. Maybe the author felt she had to make the book longer - but it just seems like there were so many other ways she could have done that. This being said, I have to admit that I was entertained and will most certainly read the next book in the series. Hopefully by that time, she'll have found a way to move the story along without the need to repeat the same dialog or emotions every other page.
"There Were Possibilities"
Yes, there were possibilities for this book, unfortunately I guess I'll never know. I only made it to chapter 14 before I gave it up and decided my time could be better spent. There were some huge holes in the whole approaching Roxy, Rain, Autumn scenario. The biggest disappointment in this book for me was the supposed protagonist. Brody came off as a self centered, immature, almost pathologically jealous and controlling little boy caring only for himself and his own agenda it's difficult to like a book when you don't like the principal character. My advice is to save your credit.
"Loved the story."
The author has done it again. A very inviting story. Heartwarming and lots of good results.
wonderful story kept my attention. showed compassion and a loving nature between two human beings
After reading the other reviews I was skeptical as to whether I would enjoy this book. But because of audible's policy I took a chance and am glad I did.
The story didn't keep my attention. It was slow and predictable. I typically like Jennifer Ryan but I was disappointed with this one
"WHINE WHINE WHINE"
Great job by Kaleo Griffith. The story sucks though. Brody is a whining POS.
"Awful don't waste your money"
I tried I really did. I kept waiting for the story to improve. The storyline had promise but too much focus on " poor Rain" Additionally the voices for the females were strained, sounded like they were in constant pain. The level of sugary sweet " I love yous" and "it's all my fault" we're too often if not over the top.
The book had a good story line. I can't wait to get into book two.
"Great book but..."
Seriously hate it ended where and when it did. Wish the story would have gone on a little longer.
"McBride book 1"
I am getting Book2 of this series.
enjoyed the story cannot wait to read next Book
"sensitive subject matter, well handled"
well described characters. tough subject sensitively handled. Nora Roberts is great at writing family series of books.
Nice to get a guy reader for once. My only niggle with this story is it is very bulked out by sex and repeating story lines. If it had been edited well it would have been great rather than dragging in places. The readers are not dum & we don't need to have things rammed down our throats. Saying that a generally nice feel.
Note to author: if this is based on a real guy : can I have his address
