"The end of the world doesn't happen with a bang. It takes slightly longer than that but not by much. Research projects, Gross Anatomy class, tests, and fancy coffee drinks will cease to be important. The fight for her life will become the only thing that matters."
Reagan McClane is a prodigy med school student on the brink of a brilliant career, but the United States and the rest of the world are headed toward total economic and social collapse. And it doesn't take more than a few hours for mass crime, looting, and pillaging to spread across the country like a plague. A brutal attack at her university leads to a fight for her life before Reagan barely makes it home to the safety of her awaiting grandparents and sisters on their family farm in Tennessee.
Three sexy Army Rangers, one of whom is married to Reagan's eldest sister, will join the McClane family to build their farm into an impenetrable fortress that they will fight to keep, no matter the cost. Reagan will find that defending her hardened, scarred heart against ever letting anyone in again will prove even more difficult than survival as one Ranger, in particular, tries to invade it. The McClane Apocalypse is a story of love, survival, and the importance of family during the worst of times imaginable.

"Great Book, horrible narrattion"
lt seemed the narrator was reading the story for the first time, without having prereading of the story. Her disjointed reading caused me to stop enjoying the story, many times. This should be re-recorded, with someone who has at least read it a couple of times before putting to tape.
"Great book, but poor narrator"
Preppers reign. People who prepare might make it through the SHTF. The also stick together which would be vital.
My favorite character is John, in love with a girl carrying many hag ups. If she weren't so cute he would have walked away.
I don't like to criticize but the average 6th grader could do a better job of reading. There were no voice changes, and she couldn't even get through a sentence without pausing. I listen to about 2 books a week, but would start listening to the radio again if this is what all readers sounded like. Sorry Andrya Ambro; but you need to find another profession.
Because the story was well written and interesting, I would try the next in the series.
I wish they would make a movie of these books. I have read them at least 5 times. Can't wait for book 2 to come out on audio.
"Great teotwawki for the romantic"
Narrator was a little monotonous but the story was cute. More of a shtf for the woman who loves a good romance.
Good storyline with great character development. The naration is well done and easy to listen to.
"Really enjoyed this book!"
The narrator is somewhat robotic... but overall, I found the book hard to put down. can't wait for tge next one!!
"I love the storyline but..."
The beginning seems a little rushed, there's not a lot of detail as to what happens, it's just happening.
Also, the narrator. She reads it like she's just reading it. There's no inflection, no difference for each character's voice, and tends to be quite halting and flat. It almost sounds like an automated voice at times.
I like the characters, but am finding Reagan to be like a petulant child, rather than a brilliant 22 year old doctor.
I really hope the narrating improves through the series or I may not be wasting my credits on an audible version.
"so much potential for a good narrator"
I love this series, I've been waiting to see if they would be on audible but I am disappointed in the narrator, I hope the next book has a better one.
"Horrible narration kills a great story!"
I would try and have read the entire McClane Apocalypse series of books. I don't know if I would give Andrya Ambro another chance as a narrator though. she came off robotic at times. It was as if she was using a computer program and it was her first read though the book.
It was very similar to most post apocalyptic books with the romance twist thrown into it.

Yes because there has been 4 others already written in the series.
"High hopes for next in series"
Narrator is not my favorite however book one is a great "first in series". once the book was over I felt like I knew each character inside and out and how they all interact with each other. I have a feeling the story line will only get better and can't wait to see what happens next!
"Sad, so sad."
I am so disappointed, I am actually sad! The premise of the book was so great. But the delivery killed it. The audio-book version narration is horrendous. I do not know if it would've been better as a book on in's own... but from what I was able to hear in the narration the presentation of the story overall is lacking greatly. I waned to care for the characters as many of them are so good! So many plot twists are engaging, but die on arrival. I planned to go and see what the rest of the series is like, but to be honest after reading book one, I don't think I will suffer through the other 4 in the series. So, proceed at your own risk.
