Publisher's Summary

The Listening Book is a thought-provoking and beautifully written challenge to the way in which we live our lives in a complex world. Through a set of parable-like short stories, Webb offers us an innovative and creative insight into God's word and, while being engaging and captivating throughout, the stories never lose their subtlety and charm.

These tales are an exploration of some of the ideas we find in the Bible, with each one carrying the essence of God's word. Webb uses his background in Bible teaching to combine both scriptural integrity with an enchanting written style to create what is, without doubt, a unique and perceptive book.

In addition to being beautifully written, The Listening Book is stunningly presented; this book's easily worded style makes it accessible to both young and old alike.

The Listening Book aims to present some of the concepts found in Christianity in a new and intuitive way and, with themes ranging from love to evangelism, it really does have something for everyone.

Refreshing, thought-provoking, unique!

What made the experience of listening to The Listening Book the most enjoyable?

It's so refreshing to have a Christian writer who, like Lewis, Bunyan and Christ before him, chooses to tell an intriguing and compelling story for reflection, rather than strangling truth by spelling it all out.
James' Webb's own honest self-awareness and humble understanding of God and His kingdom, and of people, make these stories really worth listening to.

Any additional comments?

Our whole family enjoyed listening to this audio book. My 12 year old said, "It is very good, how he's written them. I like all of them, but my special favourite was the one about Jesus and Death". My 10 year old was able to remember details of the stories months later, and his comment was, "Fabulous! I absolutely loved it!". My 7 year old's response was, "I like how he made them into great, interesting stories. In some ways it could be harder to understand, except he's made it easy to understand! I also like the names he gives the characters, like "Misfit", "World", etc". My husband's response was, "For those who have ears to hear..."

Engaging

Listening to the Listening Book allowed my mind to piece together the stories told. I admittedly love hearing James telling stories, and the way he speaks demands attention.
