Communing with spirits has been both gift and curse to Emme Walters. Now it's made her a killer's target. Emme knows why the Dowager Duchess of Briarleigh invited her to a house party - to investigate whether the duke, Rhys Brammel, murdered his wife years ago. But Emme never imagined she would fall in love with the brooding duke. Branded by society as a possible killer, Rhys is suspicious of Emme and her alleged "gift". Then a late night encounter creates awareness of her other, more attractive, aspects. When Emme's life is threatened, Rhys becomes her protector. Emme and Rhys find passion and peril as they join forces to solve the mysteries at Briarleigh. She made him believe in spirits, but can she make him believe in love?

"Could not listen to the book."
This book sounded like it was recorded in echo chamber. I tried to listen on the website as well as downloaded it on both enhance and format 4. Even using the graphic equalizer it can't be made pleasant to my ears. I could not listen to more than 15 minutes.
"great book, horrendous audio!"
Very good story, even knowing where it was heading I was surprised at some of the unexpected twists.... Occasionally the author forgot about characters still in the room or house although others were suddenly alone. That was frustrating.... but the real issue was the terrible quality of the recording. I only got thru it because of HOW I played it. For that reason I recommend you read this book because listening may be painful. The narrator is not good but may not actually be bad if not for the quality of the audio.
"HEART WARMING ROMANCE"
Not Sure. I liked the story but terrible Narrator.
Nothing, James Michaels performance was terrible. He just read the book and was not good at portraying the characters in the story
It has a bk2!! Its a series Just get a different narrator. Phil Gigante is a great narrator who can portray many characters.
I loved The Haunting of a Duke, the story of Rhys Brammel the Duke of Briarleigh and the Emme Walters, Medium and Mystic was fast paced, slightly erotic highly sensual and loving with on the edge of your seat action.
Emme is invited to Briarwood Hall for the summer garden party by the Dowager Duchess Phyllis Brammel. She wants Emme to find out what actually happen to her deceased daughter in law Elise, becasue there are rumors that her son the Duke might have murdered her.
Rhys knows of Emme's reputation and is very skeptical at first. When Emme describes her encounter with Rhys deceased sister Melisande, he starts to believe there are unexplained phenomenons on this earth. The target death of Melisande at such an early age causes Rhys and his best friend Michael Ellensleigh who loved Melisande to seek out answers to her death. You discover very quickly who the responsible parties are, but the why is not discovered until the end of the story. The childhood love story of Michael and Melisande will have you in tears. The characters, back story and the plot were all very well written and developed. I Highly Recommend The Haunting of a Duke.
"Different story but most enjoyable"
The story was not the norm in the way that normal historical romances go. Heroine can see ghosts and is driven by finding out the truth behind their appearance.
Thoroughly enjoyed the interaction between the h/h. Sensual and romantic and made all the more interesting by the evil and mysterious villain as well as an interesting twist at the end. I look foward to the next book in the series
I did not enjoy the narration but the story made up for it
I would say it is worth the credit
Such a great story with twists and good love story, a wonderful myustery well told and excellent narration
It more than met my expectations it exceeded them. This was just a wonderful love story while being a thrilling mystery. The paranormal aspect just added to the terrific depth of this story. Can't wait to listen to book 2 in this series
