She never imagined she'd be widowed before the honeymoon was over.
After being raised in the foster care system, meeting and marrying the love of her life was a dream come true for Jess Bentley. For the first time in her memory, she would have a family of her own. But the dream turns into a nightmare when a drug-crazed thief shoots and kills her husband, leaving Jess alone again, trapped in the depths of despair, and struggling to find a reason to go on.
Knowing he could have prevented the tragedy, there's nothing he won't do to make it right.
Weighed down by guilt, Dan Mulholland is desperate to find a way to make life easier for the widow of the man his brother murdered. When he learns that she's pregnant, and that her father-in-law is threatening to take the child from her, there seems to be only one course of action. Marry her and adopt the baby.

"Emotional Rollercoaster With Heartwarming Moments"
The author did a great job writing this book. It was a gripping story. I felt so many emotions while reading this story. It's a slow building romance after a very tragic event that brought together two people in the most unlikely way.
The narrator did a great job bringing the story to life. The story starts in a very difficult moment in Jess life. She had just gotten married and her husband was killed before their honeymoon was even finished. She is alone with thoughts of vengeance and when she is unable go after the man that murder her husband she decides to take matters into her own hands and perhaps end her own life.
Dan feels responsible for his brother's actions. He had tried to reach out for money but Dan shut him down because he knew it was to buy drugs.
The book has a HEA conclusion. Two unlikely people come together after a terrible tragedy and fall in love with each other.
Dan is such a sweetheart I couldn't help but fall in love with him as well. So many obstacles stand on their way and he does what he can to help Jess.

"Love can really sneak up on you..."
I've been a fan of this book for several years now and, until yesterday, have only had it in print form. I have longed for this series to be released on audio for quite some time. The narrator does a great job bringing the book more to life than what one experiences with the print version.
I love the interplay of all the characters in this story. Dan, our hero, starts out as Mr. Fix-It and soon finds himself falling for Jess, our heroine. His motives are pure and the growth of the various characters throughout the story is enchanting. We meet most of Coach's Boys in this first book. We watch a family go through the turmoil great loss--both on Jess's side and on Dan's. We feel the grief that each side experiences and how they work through their loss.
Yes, this is a love story...but it is really so much more. It is also a beginning--one our characters didn't even know they wanted or needed. It will make you laugh and there are times you'll also need to pull out your tissues because you will weep. This story lays the groundwork for all those to come in the rest of the series. I'm really looking forward to them, as well.
While I love this series in print, I have to say that having it on audio is wonderful. Audio performances bring the stories to life...and also allow me a hands=free experience so I can multitask. They're great to listen to while knitting, crocheting, or quilting. Kudos to the author for bringing them to us!
"Filled with Tragedy and Sweetness"
Narration, Daniela Acitelli - Really Good. She's not overly dramatic and has a lovely voice.
The story is a mix of tragedy and sweetness. Jess' husband is killed literally on the night they return from their honeymoon and right before her eyes. It was a robbery gone bad and now, she's a widow.
Dan's brother is the junkie that killed her husband and he's carrying guilt because his brother asked for cash just hours before the botched robbery. He can't help but feel that if he'd just given him the money, none of this would have happened.
Enter the evil Father-in-law who threatens to take the baby (after a paternity test, of course) and Dan impulsively decides that he will marry Jess for two years, adopt the baby and hopefully buy Jess enough time for mean Father-in-law to lose interest.
So they start playing house and honestly, I'd play house with Dan any day of the week. He's hot, built, wealthy and such a sweet and loving man.
This isn't a ground breaking novel, it's just a sweet romance that follows the normal checks and balances of the garden variety, everyday romance. So, I suppose if your sick of those, you'll probably want to skip this one, but if you're in the mood for a sweet story with good narration, I'd give this one a try!

I really like the narrator and how she put her own touch to each of the character and I love to hear Dan and Jes's history again Kristy really know how to write all her books are wonderful and you can't put them down
"Emotional ride with a HEA"
Really good, enjoyable and entertaining story.
Be prepared to have your heart twisted, but well worth it in the end. Talk about an emotional roller-coaster. This story runs the full range of emotions from happiness, love and hope to heartbreak, anger, despair and loss, back to hope, love and happiness.
Likable lead characters.
You can't help but develop an emotional attachment and root for Jess and Dan.
Daniela Acitelli did a good job with the narration. She is able to convey the emotions of the characters and make you believe them. Her narration is getting better with each book she does. Although the narration does not flow smoothly a couple of times. Her female voices are fine, needs to work on her male voices, there needs to be more of a difference between male and female.

Listening to The Daddy Pact was very emotional. The story at times was sweet, sad, heartbreaking, heartwarming, sweet and happy. I like it when an author can give me all of these emotions in one story and Kristy K. James did it. Daniela Acitelli did a very good job giving the characters the different voices in the story. I will recommend this book to all by friends.

"4.5 Amazing Stars"
Yes! I did enjoy this book, but it was a little cheesy but still very enjoyable.
I enjoyed the whole book, it was very well written book that will suck you in.
This books is about a man that will do anything to provide help to a woman he does not know. His family is one who put her in the spot she is in and he will do anything to make it better. That is the cheesy part, but it is still just a very enjoyable book.
Read this book before and did audible this time! Enjoyed it more! Narrator was. great! Will do another audible! Kristy's books are always a (can't put them down!) type! That's why I enjoy them they hold your interest so you have to finish!
"A 7 Star Story"
To begin with the perfect narrator for this story is the least I can say. Jess, Emmy, Dan, Emmy's husband, Dan's friends and Dan's family all make this a lively, complex, and wonderful story. I loved Coach because he instilled life long ethics in his boys.
Dan just wants to help Jess who's husband was killed on the last night of their honeymoon by Dan's drug crazed brother. What follows is a story of redemption, tragedy, love, and happiness, as well as forgiveness. Worth the credit.

"Absolutely loved it"
The narrator was wonderful, she made it so you felt the emotions of the characters, I cried like a baby at the cemetery scene
I loved all the characters, but to pick one it would be Jess and how she overcame her loss, how she dealt with Dan's mom and sister
I loved how she brought the book to life to me
Yes unfortunately I had to stop a few times but got right back to it
This is a wonderful book, and loved the narrator can't wait for more in this series
