    ""Holy Hotness Batman!""

Lora Leigh’s Breed Series has the perfect mix of science fiction infused into the paranormal aspect along with a huge dose of sexy characters and raw erotica. I hadn’t read anything like it before and I have become a diehard fan of this series. As with all series, it’s not about each individual book but the progression of the ‘story’ and this series gets better with each book.
Tempting the Beast is the first book in the Breeds series (to date there are 30 books). It introduces an intriguing cast of secondary characters many of whom get their own stories. This book has scorching hot sex scenes and uncensored raw language so don’t say you weren’t warned.
It isn't often that an author combines erotica with a storyline that keeps you intrigued, the underlying plot is fascinating (genetic engineering and government conspiracy, humans who are part animal with their evil creators relentlessly pursuing them, hello what more do you need??) My advice is that you will either love it or hate it, try the first two and you will either be hooked or sitting there thinking what was Shay thinking.
The narrator? Not the worst I have heard and certainly not the best. I wasn’t completely put off but .... I prefer Brianna Bronte who takes over later in the series. If you love the story – persist.
    Cheers. :)

"Err... clearly this is erotic reading but..."

No prude - far from it, but the jarring use of the the c-word for female genitalia is just *not* sexy according to me. So it lost out on both eroticism as well as story. Lost interest half-way through the book.

Would you listen to Tempting the Beast again? Why?

Its a keeper. The series is a keeper and when I get book 28 I will go back and listen to the previous books again.

What did you like best about this story?

First of a series and I LOVE series books!

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

It wasn't that she could have done better it was more a matter of personal preference and though I had no real complaints - just a little on the humdrum side but ... hey I love this series so I listened to the end.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. I am not sure weather that was because I had read the book previous to listening to the audio and I love it but I did listen to it in one hit.

    Any additional comments?

This is one of the hottest book series I've ever read.

    "Not what I expected"
What disappointed you about Tempting the Beast?

I was hoping for a little more story line to at least engage me in why these two characters should even be a couple. There was too much adult content and not enough interesting material. I based my decision to purchase this book as a result of the reviews, as this author is a new one for me. The reviews brought the hype but did not leave me with what I expected.

    "What Plot?"
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Most everyone I know enjoys a great story plot, but if all you want to do is read a book with almost nothing but sex, this is it. The plot of this story was completely mowed over by the excessive sex scenes.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Started the next book in this series, The Man Within. Started out the same way. I didn't finish it.

What about Stella Bloom’s performance did you like?

This I thought was the best part of this book. The narrator was very good. 4 stars.

Could you see Tempting the Beast being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Not with this story. It would have to be completely rewritten. I couldn't think of any stars that would step up for this. Pretty much a career breaker.

    Any additional comments?

I understand that Lora Leigh changed publishers and the writing on this series has gotten a lot better. I'm just not sure I'm willing to risk any more time to this series.

    "Hot, Sexy and Erotic Romance"
What made the experience of listening to Tempting the Beast the most enjoyable?

Well developed storyline, excellent narration and hot, erotic love scenes. Additionally the reaction of the alpha male breed and his mate to mating heat is believable so the story flows effortlessly.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Callan, Merinus and Caine are my favorite characters because each are passionate about their point of view in a way that is not unreasonable. The author, Lora did a great job of demonstrating each characters beliefs and position as well demonstrating as the story unfolds how they all have the same interest.

What does Stella Bloom bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Stella has a great voice that works well for narration. She is very good at differentiating the characters as she narrates so there is no confusion for the listener. Her performance was excellent.

    "It's a mating frenzy!"

I actually got tired of all the mating! The story could be good, a dna hybrid of human and feline but all the sex got in the way. The narrator was ok, she put some emotion in it but the story got old real fast!

    "Don't bother"
Would you consider the audio edition of Tempting the Beast to be better than the print version?

I have not read the printed version

What other book might you compare Tempting the Beast to and why?

    none

What three words best describe Stella Bloom’s performance?

I'm sure it's fine but couldn't get past the dialogue

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Only adversely. This book is repetitive with overkill on the sexual exploits and narratives. There is more of these items than any building of story or mystery. Overly simple and repetitive with little to no story line other than the heaving, engorged and other descriptive phrases.

    Any additional comments?

I was so annoyed with the constant description of the sexual encounters that I fast forwarded after 50% of the way in just to avoid them

"I was so very Tempted !!"
    Any additional comments?

Like all of Lora's Hot sexy and fanning my face to cool down Breed books this had all of the steam, excitement and sensuality of erotica combined with the charming, enthralling, head-over-heels, soul-mate love that every romantic desires. And now add to that combo, a wonderfully original storyline, witty dialogue, and truly amazing writing and you've got yourself a keeper baby! -- The relationship between Callan and Merrinus will draw you in and sink its claws into you from the first page, refusing to extract them until the very satisfying ending. Merrinus is a strong-willed, passionate, intelligent woman who (thanks to having been raised by an overprotective all-male family) is more than able to hold her own against the wildness within her man. Callan is the possessive, dominant, delicious alpha-male from every woman's fantasy whose fierce loyalty and love for his family and mate will capture the heart of every reader. So beware y, you will want to read the rest of the Breeds series.......

    "Kept my interest"

Lora Leigh knows how to keep the sexual chemistry flowing and she adds an interesting twist with her feline breed. This book kept my interest and I went on to book 2 immediately. (Even though I had to purchase it and with other books already lined up in my library to listen to.) I have to admit that if you give me plenty of hot sexual chemistry and a little something different then you've set the hook. Let's hope book 2 keeps the fires burning and the storyline gaining more intensity. If that happens I'll have yet another series of books in my expanding library. This one is worth the credit.
