In New York Times bestselling author Emma Chase's sizzling and hilarious debut novel, Drew Evans - gorgeous, arrogant, irreverent, and irresistibly charming - meets his match in new colleague Kate Brooks.
Drew Evans is handsome and arrogant, he makes multimillion dollar business deals and seduces New York's most beautiful women with just a smile. So why has he been shuttered in his apartment for seven days, miserable and depressed? He'll tell you he has the flu. But we all know that's not really true.
Katherine Brooks is brilliant, beautiful and ambitious. When Kate is hired as the new associate at Drew's father's investment banking firm, every aspect of the dashing playboy's life is thrown into a tailspin. The professional competition she brings is unnerving, his attraction to her is distracting, his failure to entice her into his bed is exasperating.
Tangled is not your mother's romance audiobook. It is an outrageous, passionate, witty narrative about a man who knows a lot about women…just not as much as he thinks. As he tells his story, Drew learns the one thing he never wanted in life, is the only thing he can’t live without.

I would have enjoyed this more if it wasn't so cliche ridden - and that's saying something for a genre where that's expected to a certain degree. The stories about Drew's past that are meant to enhance the plot and deepen our understanding of him were so intrusive as to be irritating. That they entirely lacked depth made them even more so
The narrator and lead character was shallow and unlikable throughout, poorly developed beyond the most obvious cliches. And Drew having sex with twins? It was supposed to make him appear more virile, but incest? Really?
That it descends to stalking, doesn't a romance make
"And Now For Something Completely Different"
Since I usually give romance novels close to failing grades (except for Sandra Brown's Rainwater and Linda Winstead Jones' Raintree: Haunted) why would I give this one a 5 Star rating? The same rating as I would give The Beautiful Ruins, the Book Thief, the Book of Unholy Mischief? Well, that would be comparing apples and oranges so it isn't a fair comparison.
However, as a Romance novel, this one stands out far above all others!
The key difference is that the protagonist is male and he narrates the story to the reader/listener as if in casual conversation. And the dialogue is definitely male--locker room style, blunt, crude and perfect for the story. It is so on the mark, I have trouble realizing that it is written by a woman.
All the characters are colorful, entertaining and totally different than those found in ordinary romance stories.
Great find. I just can't figure out how the author will follow up on this one, much less top it but I'm ready to find out!
"Think Wallbanger meets Beautiful Bastard...."
Amazing. A must-listen. This was fan freaking fantastic!! So refreshing, very entertaining and so much fun! This was the perfect blend of wit, humor, sarcasm, romance and all things sexy sexy sexy. Drew Evans is used to getting everything he wanted and enjoying life of a single good-looking bachelor. The story is told through his POV. I was actually fond of Drew's inner thoughts and even thought some of it was pretty hilarious too. Drew is a womanizer who is happy with his life. He doesn't want to have a relationship ever. Yep, he is a man-whore. Plus, he can be crude, crass, and vulgar. Regardless of all those delightful traits, you still can't help but fall for him in the end. Drew is an extra confident person so when out one night & he meets a woman he wants and cannot get, he is just not willing to accept it. What is even more unexpected for him is finding her the next day in his office being introduced as his new colleague. Actually, she is his competition. Kate was also awesome character. If you like strong heroines, you will LOVE Kate. She is smart, confident, sassy and absolutely determined not to become another notch on Drew’s bed post. She has plans, dreams, goals and no time for a playboy. She was able to keep up with Drew all the time, matched his determination, even outsmarted him at times. Their banter was just priceless! Tangled was essentially an enemies-to-lovers story about guy falling in love for the first time with a girl who goes toe-to-toe with him on everything. I loved watching them work through their issues. And when Drew finally decides to fight for Kate’s heart, the lengths to which he goes are just awesome! I must say this was one of the most enjoyable books for me this year. And that is saying something because I've finished a LOT! I really hope this author will write more books in future.
I wasn't expecting the book to have me laughing so much. It was hilarious! I still have a goofy smile on my face.
"I would LOVE to get Tangled up with Drew - So HOT!"
I was hooked from the first line and smiling wide by the end of the first page. If you are a fan of enemies-to-lovers stories, you will LOVE Tangled! I swear half my book is highlighted. I laughed out loud, grinned till my cheeks ached and just generally loved it :)
The story is about Drew. In real life, Drew is a clean-shaven, well-groomed, expensive suit wearing professional. But, at the start of the story, he’s a miserable un-showered, un-shaven yeap locked in a messy apartment overflowing with old pizza boxes while claiming to have the flu. - Right.......What he really has is a bad case of the Break Up........ See Real Life Drew was once a player. Why settle for one when there were so many willing ones tripping over themselves to be with him.
But he’s fallen in love. Finally. Problem is, she’s getting married… to someone else. Hence the miserable, moping, un-shaved heap. This is his story....... It starts off going back in time to when they first met. Drew meets Kate at a club one night and, despite the flirting, she walks away. When Kate gets hired by his office, it puts him in a frustrating situation because office romances are on his no-no list.
We are told the story by Drew. He can be a bit of an asshat but you really just can’t help falling for him – he’s that lovable. He both narrates the events and breaks the 4th wall by talking directly to us as the reader. It’s totally awesome! This is such a Smart and fun listen that i find my mind keeps wondering back to it. It's one of those books you just can't forget... I can't wait for the next in this Sexy series. :)
I'm really starting to wonder if I'm just so in love with the Narrator (Sebastian York) or this is going to be another fabulous series that he just happens to read???? Either way......absolutley brilliant writing and of course the narration brings it home!!!!
BUT WHY........ just put one book out at a time! I truly hate this!
"If only there were more stars to give!"
This has to be one of the best Romantic Comedies I have ever listened to. It is told completely from Drew's point of view... It was like you were just hanging out with him on the couch as he tells you his story. I laughed so hard ... one of those not so cute laughs with snorts and tears kind of funny. And Sebastian York was FABULOUS... totally believable. I just loved it! I just wish I had 5 more stars to add and give this book a perfect 10!
"Awesome!!!! More Please...."
I loved this one. I found it hard to put down. I have read a bunch of 'OK' books lately and this one really made me recall that feeling of getting sucked into a truly good book and not wanting to put it down, even if you have work in 5 hours. The book is written from the male prospective and I really liked that on this story, and it was nice that it was not the male perspective of a story we had already seen from the female viewpoint. The main character, Drew, is a player and the book is a dialogue between him and the reader. It was very well written and laugh out loud funny. I look forward to more books from this author. If you like romance books, I recommend this one, it can be a bit crass and there is a lot of sex, so you might want to think twice if you don't like that. It reminded me of Beautiful Bastard - with a little less sex.
Written from the male point of view. Witty and clever dialogue, original, realistic, funny, endearing, sweet, very crude and everything else to make it AWESOME!!!! Best book on audible right now, in my humble opinion.
Sebastian York does an AWESOME job narrating as always. Totally makes it all work. Brilliant!!!
"Love his voice really makes the story"
enjoyed the book. Different from most. loved his voice. listen to him anytime.
"Nice Male POV"
I like hearing the story from Drew's POV. Of course SY's narration skills are soooo nice. That sexy male voice just helps the story along. Since the story is from the male POV it is different and I enjoyed the change. I like the humor in this one but I do have to admit SY's voice is drool-worthy as usual. The sexy parts aren't too bad either. In all this is a very good listen.
"I LOVED GETTING TANGLED UP IN THIS RIVETING STORY"
If you're looking for something different from the 'usual' style of romance listen - then look no further.
This romantic/comedy is told as if the Hero is talking directly to you and totally from his point of view on sex, love, life and the unfortunate condition he now finds himself in (I'll say no more on that). Drew is a handsome, arrogant, rich, selfish, spoilt, never the same girl twice playboy who's happy with his life and his many many conquests….. that is until he locks eyes with Katherine she's beautiful, independent, confident, sassy but engaged. Then all the 'War of the Roses' type trouble starts when Katherine is hired as the new Associate in Drew's Father's Company and suddenly things don't go his way anymore.
This refreshing, well-written book had originality, loveable characters, good secondary characters, with hot sex, sarcastic witty banter, it was funny, had a lighthearted feel, great character development, romantic and was just a joy to listen to.
Worth a credit? Although he was a total man whore in the beginning, you can't help but love him as you get caught up in all his antics and you hope, after all he goes through, he finally gets his HEA ending and that made this a really enjoyable addictive listen and very creditworthy.
"tagged by Emma Chase"
I really enjoyed this book. So refreshing to get a man's perspective, and the narration was spot on
This audio book was way better than I thought it would be. I must admit the narrator has a very sexy. voice which I think helped lol
"Awesome, my first Emma Chase Book"
This book was awesome. I love this book because it so different from a mans point of view. You may not agree with Drew's point of view on any subject but you will laugh.
Drew is a investment banker in New York. It's a family business for Drew, his family and friends. He loves is job and his playboy lifestyle. That was until he meets Kate in REM. He wants Kate but she will not play his game.
Kate comes from Ohio and has studied hard to be a investment banker. She will not let Drew ruin her plans for her and her family. Kate has dated Billy since she was 15 years old. She is happy, so she thinks?
Will Drew get his way? Will either find true love or just happiness?
I would recommend this book and I can't wait for Twisted and Tamed!!
"must read book"
was laughing till i cried it is a fab book
the family richual meal drew how he describes his sister lol
his vision voice of drew he makes him so alive a real
lets just stop there
omg fab book x
Loved it, even after a second read. Drew was laugh-out-loud adorable.... Highly recommended read.
"Waste of a credit!"
This is just so bad... How can this book have an overall of 4/5stars? The best thing is the narrator's voice - beautiful. But no story, cringing, loads of nonsense. Not even finishing it.
"I was bored"
I had high hopes for this book. It was a disappointment. I was really bored but I pushed myself to listen to it until the end hoping the plot would have changed. It was so flat for me it took me one whole week to finish listening to it.
I didn't get I at all the part where the main character was addressing The reader and frankly it was done quite a few times throughout the whole book. Why would the character in a book stop everything and ask the reader questions and frankly what? you're expecting an answer?? Was trying to get into the storyline and all the time there were these questions..... I didn't get it!!!
The characters did not have any depth whatsoever. I found The storyline really poor.
I hated the last part at the end of the book regarding the advise towards the reader?? This was supposed to be a story, a novel, not a self-help book.
"Even better second time around"
I love Drew & Kate's beginning what brilliantly written characters and story lines.
The narrator Sebastian York is perfect as Drew Evans the womanising charmer & does a good job as Smart mouthed Kate too.
"Detangle yourself by avoiding this!!"
I would think twice about reading or listening to another book by Emma Chase, but I would listen to something else narrated by Sebastian York.
It is almost there. I was really put off by the sex scenes in this book as I was not looking for an erotica novel.
He was brilliant for this narration. His voice tone was perfect with the character.
Frustration. It is a very bad story. I was intrigued by a man's point of view, but all I could get was the sense of a woman telling how a man feels. The story was dull, there was no conflict and the characters were dull. I could not sympathise with any of them. Also, the writing was full of clichés and overused jargons.
This is one to avoid. I will not listen to the sequels.
