"For fractured souls are like magnets. Drawn to collide into an impossible bliss."
Labeled a 'Cursed' woman of Eve from birth, Maddie has endured nothing but pain and repression at the hands of The Order's most abusive elder, Moses. Now living with her sister in The Hangmen's secluded compound, finally, Maddie is free. Free from the suffocating faith she no longer believes in. Free from endless years of physical and mental torment. Just free.
At age 21, the timid and shy Maddie is content to live within the confines of her new home - safe from the outside world, safe from harm and, strangely, protected by the Hangmen's most volatile member: the heavily pierced and tattooed Flame. Flame. The man who ceaselessly watches over her with his midnight dark and searing eyes. The man who protects her with a breathtaking intensity. And the man who stirs something deep within her numbed heart. But when circumstances conspire for Flame to need her help, Maddie bravely risks it all for the broken man who has captivated her fragile soul.
The Hangmen's most infamous member, Flame is ruled by one thing - anger. Plagued by haunting demons from his past, an all-consuming rage, and isolated by an abhorrent hatred of being touched, Flame's days are filled with suffocating darkness, pierced only by a single ray of light - Maddie. The shy, beautiful woman he cannot purge from his thoughts. The woman he has an overwhelming need to possess, the only person who has ever been able to touch him. Flame's mission in life is to protect Maddie, to keep her safe. Until a trigger from his troubled past sends him spiraling into madness, trapping him in the deepest recesses of his disturbed mind. His Hangmen brothers fear that Flame is beyond saving. His only hope of salvation: Maddie and her healing light.

"Flame & Maddie ~ My Favorite In The Series!"
The emotions this story will evoke, and the angst the characters experience. Flame and Maddie are survivors who teach each other how to overcome their past and take a chance to find happiness in each other.
There were so many scenes I loved! Really, anything to do with Flame. He was such a quiet character, I liked learning more about what was going through his mind, and what made him tick.
Maddie helping Flame learn to overcome being touched, and them moving forward despite their pasts.
Despite this being a dark story with many triggers, it is captivating, well written and has excellent character development. Well worth the time, and I look forward to the next book in the series!
"All the feels and emotions"
I have been looking forward to Flame's story since I started this series and it didn't disappoint. All the twists and turns, I never saw it all coming. Very good listen, highly recommend.
"FLAME MELTED MY HEART"
The publishers summary is spot on. This is a very different MC series. Fitting that the MC's name is Hades Hangmen since they fight a religious cult.
I never give spoilers but I think people need a warning with this series. The cult, adult men, rape girls starting at the age of eight years old all in the name of religion. Of course, the men also have more than one wife. This series is dark, gritty, and sometimes sick.
Flame endured his own hell as a child and this is why he can't stand to be touched. The way he was treated broke my heart and angered me. I would make nasty comments out loud and my husband and son would look at me and shake their head.
Tillie Cole has once again written an all consuming series. I also love her Scarred Souls series.
J.F. Harding, Violet Strong, and Douglas Berger gave a fantastic performance.
This is absolutely worth a credit if you like dark and gritty.
"Great story. Ok narration."
Love this series. Gritty and different. Sad, yet inspiring that they could find and choose each other to love.
Negative- This time the male narrator kept doing the h's voice with a slight British accent for some reason. Totally unexplainable since they are in Texas and the other cult members all talk with southern type accents. It was distracting.
"Odd male narration"
I love this series but unfortunately the decision to voice Maddie, Mae, and Lila as British women when they were raised in Texas was an odd and wrong one.
"My all time favorite book"
This book is heartbreaking, heart wrenching and made me believe in true love. Two damaged people fighting there way to each other and succeeding. Flame and Maddy are some of the most well developed characters I have even seen in a book and when I got to the last page I had tears running down my face and a new all time favorite book.
another awesome installment of this raw, gut wretching, soul marking story. Flame and Maddys story is one you will never forget. also, the guy that narrates Flame, is fantastic
"WOW!!! I loved this book so much."
I have been looking forward to Flame's story so much that I was afraid it would disapointed, so to my delight it didn't
Douglas Berger, Violet Strong, J.F. Harding did a great job narrating this emotional story.
"gets stuck, skip and stop alot! but story is good "
I love the story but it gets stuck, skip and stop alot !! I had going back 30 seconds a lot understand what happened
"Confused by accent"
I would have given the performance a better rating but for the very bad British accent one of the narrators gave the polygamist cult women. Why? They were from the hill country in Texas. I'm still trying to figure out why.
