Dirk lives in the shadows - performing hits, maintaining order, and upholding the no-holds-barred legacy of the Sinner's Creed Motorcycle Club. A nomad with a restless spirit and a cold heart, the open road is his world. One of the few constants in his life is his desire for the one woman who has consumed his thoughts for years.
Saylor Samson grew up far from the harshness of Dirk's world. But ever since she was 17 she's been drawn to this dark and mysterious man who always seemed to show up just when she needed him. After years of fated encounters, he's back. This time he's taking her. This time she's ready for the ride. But just when the darkness in Dirk's life begins to fade, Saylor reveals a secret that puts them both to the ultimate test. Now Dirk has to make a decision: submit to his destiny with the MC - or choose his own.

"I KNOW IT WAS DIFFERENT... BUT SADLY IT'S NOT FOR ME"
I know I'm going to be in the minority here but I really have to be true to my feelings because I really didn't enjoy the second half of this listen.... it started off well as Nomad Dirk, the cold and ruthless Enforcer/Executioner for the MC, kept crossing paths with a young girl who is constantly in his thoughts.... Saylor. We're told nothing of Saylor so there's lots of unanswered questions and a mystery behind her character. But, over the years as Saylor turned into a woman, Dirk, who is a strict loner and loves it that way, just can't keep away from her.... and then one night Fate serves her up to him and, yet again, he becomes her rescuer.
However, there is a vulnerability between both of them and they're happy to take things slowly and easy, to become friends, enjoying each other's company and there's no need for many words or explanations between them.... just acceptance. Saylor isn't pushy, demanding or bitchy - she's just glad to be with Dirk.... and Dirk knows he's making a mistake but he just can't help himself.
Then the story takes on a deep and depressing turn and I prefer HEA endings to a romance story and not to suffer through very miserable heartache and dark emotional scenes. No spoilers but this did not leave me happy that I'd listened to it nor did it give me that warm fuzzy feeling as I left it. Told from Dirk's POV, rival and inner MC violence and trouble and I thought the narration was great.
Worth a credit? No, not for me, I like escapism, but I do realize that there is strength and a powerful love story within this listen.... sadly though I love a HEA ending.
All I can say is that I freaking loved this book! I will not read books that have certain themes or elements to them. I did not know that this was one of those books and I am so glad I did not know because I would have missed out on one of the best books I have read. I was about a third of the way in when I realized it was only Dirks POV. It worked beautifully. I listened to the audio version and it was so raw, emotional and gritty that I was crying for the last 3 hours. I am really looking forward to the second book and hope that not only does it come out on Audible, but that they use the same narrator. He was phenomenal and perfect for this book!
"I hate to give a bad review but this book just did"
I never could get into the story and really did not like the book hero (wow I can't even say that about him as He was evil) I usually love a MC book but not this one.
It was just plain sad
narrator was great and did a fine job so not her fault I didn't like book

"Unexpected and New"
While this wasn't what I expected, a slightly different version of other MC books with some romance thrown in for fun, what I got was just as good. I enjoyed the slow build of a story, a strong couple to love, and I story I couldn't have anticipated. This is a romance for sure, but in a completely different and new way.
"Amazing couldn't stop listening"
This book has everything. Made me laugh cry excitement suspense and steamy. The story line was great.
"wonderful love story"
I loved the story, the characters, the love they had between them and the happiness even thru death. the narrator interpretation was excellent. can't wait for this author comes out with another book.
I am a very emotional person so this was a very sad story for me. I wish I would have known that before I started listening to it. If I would have known I probably wouldn't have read it. If you like sad stories then this book is for you
This book was awesom and yes sad! At first I was pissed that it ended so tragically-happy. Then I thought about the life of an MC and thought how real! Yes you get a HEA but not in the way you expect at all! Not in the way we have trained ourselves to expect and want, me included. Yet seeing their love bloom and grow through the good, the bad, the ugly I would have to say this is a love I can relate too. Having found my one and only love and endured great times and ugly times battling similar crap this is what I want, what I signed up for....a forever love ... a never ending love. I love that goes on even when time does not.
Good job Kim Jones keep it up and hopefully audible will bring us your other books!
"Unbelievanle love story!"
Unbelievanle love story, the best is the unpredictable turns and amazing ending.... I have never been moved enough to write a review as tears roll down my face. MUST READ!😆
"The narration wasn't enjoyable for me."
The story line and characters were absolutely amazing and unforgettable.
Dirk was my favorite character. Going through the journey with him was very intimate and precious as I followed him from his day to day existence as the non-emotional Nomad and highly respectful enforcer of the MC - to the man would give anything and do anything for the woman he loved. For a man so powerful, he was so gentle with Saylor. It was breathtaking at times.
In my opinion, the narrator was too slow with his narration. It was a bit too slow so I had to speed it up for me. It caused me to distance myself from the characters because it made it harder to connect. Also, there was a lack of inflection in his narration. Nothing in his voice or tone emphasized the emotion like it should. I actually had to switch to listening to the ebook using my phone's vision impaired settings so that my Kindle app would read it to me, for a big chunk of the book. I eventually switched back to the audiobook toward the last part of the story.
This is not your typical MC story
