Elizabeth Parkins lived through a nightmare come true - getting kidnapped by a serial killer. Seeking a fresh start, she moves to Texas, but escaping her demons proves impossible when she's too terrified to leave her own apartment. A small, accidental fire sparks a coping method she'd never expected, and brings an amazing man to her door.
Firefighter Cade "Sledge" Turner's idyllic life ended the day his sister was kidnapped. Now he knows firsthand that tragedy can befall anyone, at any time. Meeting Elizabeth on the job was a gift. Cade can envision spending his life with this woman. He understands what she's been through, is willing to help her heal...though even Cade is unaware of Beth's new secret obsession.
As Beth takes steps to help herself heal, and Cade attempts to earn her trust and prove his own, they're both about to be tested - in a way that could see everything they've worked for go up in flames.
Shelter for Elizabeth is the 5th book in the Badge of Honor: Texas Heroes series. Each book is a stand-alone, with no cliffhanger endings.

"Elizabeth's story was long awaited"
Ever since reading about Summer and Mozart, I've been hoping to see what happened to Elizabeth ... the other woman kidnapped and tortured then saved by the SEALS.
Susan Stoker is an amazing author and really gives depth to her characters.
Although the book can be read without reading the Protecting Summer book first, I recommend reading the books in order for maximum enjoyment.
Narrator is very good.
I love how some of the characters from the other books and series are brought in. But you don't have to read the other books to know what's going on. The story line is awesome! And I really like how each female has their strong points about them, even at their weakest moments. I can't wait for the next one!!
I really enjoyed this book. Haven't read/listened to the others, but that's where I'm going now.
not my favorite but another great book. Cade was very sweet with elizabeth and her phobia.
"Another really good story!"
Susan Stoker has become one of my favorite authors and this latest did not disappoint. I love all the characters from the other books and their interactions add to the enjoyment. I look forward to future books.
