The one she really wants is out of reach.
The one he really needs is already taken.
Dizzy Lowell, rhythm man for the rising rock band Tempest, is a wizard on the guitar and a wonder with women. But the hookup specialist hides his emotional scars beneath his suave exterior. He never lets anyone truly touch him.
April Reynolds, the confident bartender of the Diamond Mine, knows her way around a cocktail, but Dizzy has her all mixed up. She knows what's safe. She's tired of settling, though. It would be so easy to fall under his spell.
Except for that ring around her finger.
Two searching souls separated by a thin metal band.
Some dreams are dangerous.
Some secrets shouldn't be shared.
Sometimes what we wish for most can never be.

"Dizzy for Dizzy"
It ranks in the top 10
April...she was amazing so beat down and should of thrown in the towel but she found love and found the strength to overcome her situation
I'm in love with Kai and Wens narration they bring the characters and stories to life
When all hope is lost listen for the riff
"Wow!!! Steamy romance"
Steamy romantic amazing!!!
They provide a life and voice for the characters that only further enhances the experience.
"Rollercoaster Of A Read."
This is my absolute favorite so far! My emotions were all over the place with this one. Listening to the past and what occurred was heart stopping to me.
I gotta say, Diz widled his way into my heart. In spite of all the crap the universe put him through, he became strong enough to drag himself out and up.
As always they are remarkably talented.
The heartbreak for April's situation and what she had been through as well as the heartbreaking revelations from Diz about his childhood.
I'm ecstatic that War is friends again with the band. Some serious healing was happening there.
"Best in the Series!!!"
Loved the story of April and Dizzy. Betrayal, friendship, family, and love. There are some dark moments in the story ... but in the end the HEA comes together! I enjoyed the listen. Enjoyed the relationship. I wouldn't change a thing!
"I don't want it to be over"
I didn't read the print version.
It was a captivating story with strong characters, danger, intrigue, sex, and love.
The various characters that they gave voice to.
I had to put off everything until I finished the book, I had to see what happened.
I would have liked to have seen the Familia have taken them in and shown that 'gangs' can be strong family units also, not all bad.
This book is about forbidden love. Dizzy falls for a married woman. Some people may think the husband’s flaws and the ending are a little too convenient, but I love these characters and Mankin’s writing so much that I’m okay with that in order to get to the HEA. In fact, those flaws are what added the tension and suspense to this story.
This is another great book that has characters you can’t help but fall in love with. Dizzy’s past is even darker than I suspected and should carry a trigger warning. The secondary characters are loveable as usual.
Throughout the series Mankin uses original poetry as lyrics to the band’s songs. In the audiobooks, there is a musical background that plays behind the reading of each poem. It adds to the story and the rock atmosphere.
Each book in this series is a stand alone and stars a different couple. However, there is an over-reaching arc about the band’s future that is left hanging at the end of this book. I’m hoping that Mankin will follow up soon with the promised books about the final two band members, the rhythm section. And that she'll quickly produce the matching audiobooks. Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross are awesome narrators. They become the characters and act out the stories, rather than simply reading the book aloud.
This book was another 5-star audiobook for me.
This story totally blew me away.
Kai and Wen's telling of it magnified the entire exspearince.
My heart was on a rollercoaster the entire time. Breath taking!
Every book so fare has been fabulous. I have to finish them immediately and even re-listen before I read the next one :).
"Hot and Steamy Romance!!!!"
Any of the other books in the Tempest series. They are all hot, steamy, and not only deal with everyday problems, but show how true love can conquer all.
Kai and Wen are the best voice-overs I have listened to by far. They speak clearly and with passion. They are true storytellers. The chemistry they share when narrating is something I would never experience reading the book myself. They bring the book to another level of enjoyment.
Yes! I absolutely did. In fact, I listened to all four books in the series that are available now in four days.
Michelle Mankin has become one of my favorite authors in just a small amount of time. Her edgy subject matter and lyrical writing is amazing. And having Kai Kennicot and Wen Ross narrating this wonderful series is a match made in heaven. I cannot wait to read the rest of the books in the series and anything else these three have in store.
"THE MESSAGE..HOLD ON,TAKE THE RISK & DARE TO DREAM"
Yes, this a tragic and difficult listen with a doomed relationship between two broken people - pierced and tattooed man-slut Dizzy and married bartender April who crave to be together but April's very physical and abusive mysterious cheating husband makes it impossible for her to dream of a HEA. But underneath Dizzy's brash exterior is a heart craving love and a tender soul reaching for the impossible.... salvation and underneath April's mask of indifference is a profound yearning for hope and, as the sparks fly, together they might just get their hearts desire.
There's also the tragedy of April's Step-Father who had been in a car accident which left him with a traumatic brain injury.... and worse was to happen. Miscarriage and child abuse is also somewhere in the mix. So this is very much a bitter-sweet listen with plenty of drama, life threatening situations, heartache, sex, a stolen romance with broken hearts, broken friendships and broken dreams along the way. But there's also passion, tenderness and protective arms with sweet words of love. Dual POV's and, as always with this series, I love how the dual narration allows the female/male to say their own parts so neither one has to try to do the opposite sexes voice which makes it a smoother listen.
Worth a credit? I love all of the tortured members of the Tempest Band and their stories so, for me, it's a no brainer YES because MM has a great writing style that brings her characters to life so you can't help but get caught up in the outcome of their love stories and root for the ever elusive HEA ending. Each one could be a stand-alone listen.
