"Revenge is a dish best served with cloth napkins and floral centerpieces...fast-paced...puts poetic justice first." (Publishers Weekly)
It was very hard to stay focused with this book. The main characters justify violence and revenge too easily. Revenge seems a poor motivator, and by book 3 of the Sisterhood Series, the enjoyment the female characters experience just planning as well as inflicting pain is disturbing. It tips the balance to the extent that their scales of justice are a joke.
If you enjoy descriptive torture, you will enjoy the Sisterhood Series.
The performance shows the different characters, but the laughter is grating and has the same tone for every character.
I really enjoyed the cast of characters, their brains and beauty and spunk. Well paced and fun listening to a good narrator. Helped make the time knitting samples go by quickly.
Am downloading #3 right now.
As with all of the Sisterhood Series this was a totally enjoyable listen. Laurel Merlington does a superb job with the audio and I love the story line.
"Revenge is a dish best served....cold!"
A satisfying conclusion! (to a brave woman's ordeal at the hands of her cheating husband!)
I really like the portrayal of Myra Rutledge. Every time I hear her voice, I clearly picture her and her busy hands, frequently wringing her pearls. I especially enjoy how her character has developed over the past few books. Nicki Quinn is also quite believable. Laural is one of my favorite audiobook performers due to the way she keeps each person in their voice. It's like sitting in with a group of woman friends, good friends, with comfortable conversation!
When Julia gathered up her plant and brought it home.
Narrator is superb. I wish I could give some pay back to some people who deserve it.
I found this book in one of my recommendations. I was skeptical, but the ratings were high so I gave it a try. suffice it to say that I am listening to the third book within 2 days. sometimes outlandish you cannot help but get hooked and love each one of the characters. What is an appropriate retribution? Will they get caught? this series keeps you on your toes.
"Why did I waste a credit?"
I don't get all of the love given to this book! I won't waste any more of my time time by delving into the series. Lame, lame, lame. Sorry Fern Michaels fans, I can't be in the club.
"Great continuation of the series"
Heartwarming yet exciting. Love the storyline. Good narration. Can't wait to hear the next book.
Great light summer reading. From adorable characters to great stories of victory, its a good ride.
"Found this book by accident and loved it"
This being the first one in a series has been exciting to hear. The women being strong figures is the real draw.
It's as if I could see the ladies. I wish they would turn this into a tv program.
I walk at the local rec center and I have to talk myself into it. When I discovered the books by Fern Michaels, Payback being the first one I can't wait to walk every day. I only listen to the books when I walk so I can hardly wait for the next day.
"A decent guilty pleasure..."
Let's be honest - Fern Michaels fare is never going to be considered an example of the great American novel - but the concept of a bunch of female vigilantes is intriguing and I love that there's no "woman realizes in a moment of clarity that true vengeance is forgiveness" type of ending. Although I gotta say - this ADA Jack Emory is driving me NUTS!! I want him killed at this point.
While just as entertaining as the first book in the series, the 'payback' in this one is not as undoubtedly justified as the one performed in Weekend Warriors, and that distanced me a little from the story this time. Still well worth a listen though, and I do not regret using my monthly credit on this.
