#1New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts brings us a classic story about the risks we will take when love is on the line....
Matthew Bates has wanted Laurel Armand for years, but she is his professional nemesis, and the sultry Southern belle has always kept him at arm's length. Yet when the rival reporters are assigned to work together on a case of murder in steamy New Orleans, the sparks fly. Matt and Laurel soon find themselves in the path of a deranged killer, putting love and life on the line!

I usually love Nora Roberts but this book was awful. Extremely predictable plot with unlikeable characters and the narration was completely over the top. If I could give it 0 stars I would
"Enjoyable Easy Read"
A fun mystery. Not an award winning novel, but great for an enjoyable entertaining read.
"Mediocre at best"
Definitely not one of Nora Roberts' better reads. Story is rather dull and difficult to get interested in. It had the potential to be a good book, but just didn't make it.
Great story. However I don't mean to be prejudiced against people with a lisp however it is so annoying I cannot listen to this story
"Simple Nora Roberts Novel"
The story itself wasn't bad. I was able to figure out the ending nearly halfway through the book. My only complaint would be how fast everything happened with Laurel and Matthew. One minute they dislike each other. The next, he kisses her. Then they have 4 drinks and kiss. The next day, she loses her virginity. The next day, their engaged. I understand that during the year prior, Matthew had feelings for her and showed it by constantly picking on her and annoying her, but still, the way their relationship evolved was way too fast.
"The ending was a bit of surprise"
This is designed for a "young" girl as the audience. I would not suggest it.
"Old Time N.R. Classic"
Tanya brings classic to life
our heroine as she does not give up on Lewis
I have come to enjoy her since finding out her A.K.A name Tatiana Sokolov which I have many reads
"a good read"
loved it. It moved along just right with just the right amount of suspense. Almost too short.
Pretty weak story line. Characters had very dated attitudes, not surprising I suppose, as the book was first published in the eighties. Two main protagonists not really likable. It was difficult to know which character you were hearing as the narrator didn't really pause when moving from one person's thoughts or dialogue to another. My first disappointing Nora Roberts book.
