Derek Alexander is a retired Marine, ex-cop, and the top investigator in his field. Melissa Jones is a small-town girl trying to escape her troubled past.
When the two intersect in a bar in Arizona, their sexual chemistry is off the charts. But what is revealed during their "one week stand" only complicates matters - because she'll do everything in her power to get away from the past, but he'll do everything he can to hold her.

"Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. Will have you waiting up at night for your husband so you can recreate scenes." (Magan Vernon, author of The Only One)

"Left me wanting more…."
This is the type of book that I find really hard to rate. I really loved the chemistry and intensity of the connection between the leads, Derek Alexander and Melissa Jones, but there was one thing that made it lose stars for me (which I'll mention later).
Derek and Melissa meet in Scottsdale, Arizona as Melissa is on a spa retreat with her best friend Elaine, and Derek is staying at the same resort for a conference. He is also accompanied by his best friend, Patrick. The hot, steamy sexy-time between Derek and Melissa begins right away, but it's always somewhat strained because Melissa is in the middle of a really bad life event that she refuses to disclose (to the reader and the male lead). Yet, I enjoyed how Derek sought her out and, oh boy, when Melissa stopped churning the wheels of indecision in her head, these two couldn't stop the floodgates of their passion. However, my issue stems from when Derek and Melissa part ways after spending a hot, but emotionally road-blocked week with one another. So, while Melissa goes through her "stuff" (which is pretty bad), well Derek is not present in the book….his absence was too long for me (maybe for about 1/3 of the book). And, it pissed me off that the secondary characters, the "best friends" had a smoother love affair than the leads….GGGGrrrrr!!!! Derek reenters the book right on time, but 38 minutes before the book ends!!!! UGH!
The only thing that made Derek's absence balance out was the beautiful epilogue. It is from Derek's point of view and it's the only time where you get Derek and Melissa, hot and steamy with no road blocks in sight (well not major ones). The other redeeming quality is that there is a second book in this series that is dedicated to Derek and Melissa and when I read that I was like, "damn straight!!!" The author needed to remediate Derek's absence in this book and give readers some more sexy Derek and Melissa time.
Narrators: Lucy Rivers did a fantastic job narrating the majority of the book. Christian Fox came in at the end as he narrated only the epilogue. His voice was super sexy and dreamy.
Omg... I don't even know how to describe my disappointment with this book. It was just awful! Boring! The narrators were fine, though.
"Poorly written characters and improbable story"
This story is fundamentally flawed because the only time the two main characters interact is to have sex. There are no opportunities for the reader to learn anything about these people, their histories or their quality of their characters. Then we are supposed to believe that they fall in everlasting, soul-mate love as an outcome of their "one week stand." It just does not track. The author spends all of her time describing sex scenes and no time describing the characters. Her dramatization of the sex is not that exciting either, so this book really has nothing to recommend it. Save your credits.
"Short and Sweet"
This was a first by this author for me.
I really enjoyed the story oh and boy howdy it was SEXY! Hot Hot Hot.
I love a good one night stand only this turned into a week stand.
Melissa need a week to get her head on straight so she could go home and do what she needed to do.
I didn't expect a few things that happened. I mean you kind of feel like you know where the story is going but I was pleasantly surprised where the story took me.
I did like her best friend she was a great secondary character. Over all a solid 4 stars. I really liked the narrators I am a fan of Lucy's and now I can say I enjoy Christians work as well.
"Hot Stranger Sex"
If you looking for some steaming hot stranger sex, you should definitely check this one out. :)
This one featured an overbearing rich husband and a fed up young wife who wanted out. It had uncomfortable themes relating to issues leading to the dissolution of marriage. I liked it but i didn't love it. The narrators did a pretty good job and I felt like their voices added to the story in a way that aided my enjoyment.
the story ends well, but we got a small preview of the next couple.
This book was HOT... I have laughed, cried & cussed, but it was so worth it. I can't wait to listen to next book.
"Sweet and Short and to the Point"
Short, Sweet, Steamy
It kind of reminds me of Beloved by Corinee Michaels. Not only does it have a similar pretty cover, but it has the mid-shift-in-the-book plot with a military guy. The pace feels the same too.
Lucy is a great narrator. You can tell she has done many narrations, she just seems so professional. She can voice transition well and I completely got her emotions as she read. Christian only does the epilogue and I LOVED his voice. He sounds like a twenty-something Hero (sometimes male narrators can sound really old, like in the 50’s), I wished I could have gotten more of him.
I really like the beginning. I found it fast-pace and really steamy. I like two strangers meeting and hooking up dynamics. It just seems very modern and easy.

4 Finding the right one Stars
This is my second Tia Louise book. One to Hold is a standalone and is part of the One to Hold series. I read book 7, One to Chase and I loved it so much I’m going back and making my way through the series. The writing style is a bit different in this one. I would say it’s a little more formal and not as laid-back like One to Chase. Regardless, both writing styles work for me. I’m not too picky, I kind of like the variety because it kind of changes things up.
This is Derek and Melissa’s story.
Melissa is going through some stuff. She goes away to get away from it all. She runs into Derek. Melissa doesn’t do one-night stands and she isn’t reckless, but Derek is so hard to resist. I got Melissa. You are in a rut and you find an attractive guy, so why not? They have hot and steamy times. The chemistry between Melissa and Derek go into insta-lust fairly quickly. I’m a fan of fast-pace novels and this didn’t bother me.
Derek is an investigator. He is in town for the week and after steamy times with Melissa, he wants more. One week more. He asks Melissa to stay with him and afterwards both go on to their separate ways. I liked that Derek pursues Melissa and I like the one-week-no-strings-attachment situation. It adds some mild tension and the beginning just grabs a hold of you.
But not everything is what it seems. The second half of the book shifts and it took me by surprised. I wasn’t sure if I was okay with this, but as I read, I learned to accept it. It added another level of issues and you feel for both parties (more on Melissa’s side).
There’s a bit of reflection on Melissa’s part and while she was going through her emotions. The book is from Melissa’s POV and I wished we got Derek’s (we get his at the epilogue). I wanted to know where he stood and how he felt. A lot is jammed into this book and props to Tia for providing me a bumpy journey.
I did the audio version. I can’t stress enough how much I love audio books. I do a lot of re-reads this way, but every once in a while I will throw in a new book I haven’t read. I like this because I never know what I get and the emotions it makes me feel. I enjoyed the audio a lot.
I listened to the audio while driving to Destin, Fl. with my family. It held my attention and found it was very easy to follow along! The story really grabbed me and help the drive go by much quicker.
"Love this new Author to Audible"
This was a awesome audio. The Tia Louise and Christian Fox are a great combination! Can't wait to read all books in this series.
