Can a stack of long-hidden love letters from a WWII war hero inspire a heartbroken woman to love again?
Reeling from a bitter divorce, Adrienne Carter abandons Chicago and retreats to the sun, sand, and beauty of Southern Florida, throwing herself into the restoration of a dilapidated old Victorian beach house. Early into the renovations, she discovers a tin box hidden away in the attic that reveals the emotional letters from a WWII paratrooper to a young woman who lived in the house more than a half-century earlier.
The old letters - incredibly poetic and romantic - transcend time, and they arouse in Adrienne a curiosity that leads her to track down the writer of the letters. William "Pops" Bryant is now an old man living in a nearby town with his handsome but overprotective grandson, Will. As Adrienne begins to unravel the secrets of the letters (and the Bryants), she finds herself not yet willing to give up entirely on love.

"Heartwarming love story"
Who doesn't appreciate love letters? Love the story. All the characters touched me. Narration was excellent. My first Heather Burch book. I will definitely read her next book.
"Beautiful Old Fashioned Romance"
I thoroughly enjoyed this excellent book. It is so refreshing to find a modern author that does not have to rely on bad language, violence, or steamy sex scenes to carry the story along.
The plot concerns a young woman who finds a box of old love letters when she is renovating an old house .Intrigued by the letters she sets out to find the author,a WW2 veteran living in a nearby town with his devoted handsome grandson .The book is full of likable characters and believable situations all set in a delightful beach town in Florida.
The narration was first rate and I will certainly look for more books by this author.
Thanks Audible for making this available.
"Letters tell the story"
One Lavender Ribbon is an easy book to listen to. The narrator is pleasant and handles different voices well. The story is a romantic fiction, involving several characters whose lives and lies have woven them together in a typical romantic fiction style. I liked the story, the twists of storyline and the resolution.
The historical significance combined with the wonderfully flawed and loving characters. I couldn't stop listening. I thought the book would be sappy based on the title, and I'm so glad I gave it a chance after sitting on my "wish list" for so long. I've recommended it to everyone I can think of. I just adored this book and rank it with "The Notebook" as far as being a book that gets under your skin and touches you in unexpected ways. I hated that it ended!
"A Frustrating Tale--Really a Fairy Tale"
I probably wouldn't recommend this book. I found it very frustrating, and, in the end, quite a shaggy dog story. Just when you thought nothing else could throw a wrench into the story, along it came. Toward the end I found myself yelling, "Don't do it! Just back away." I think research shows that abusive behavior repeats itself, and often women who have been in abusive relationships often continue in them. It would be the rare case when abusive behavior can be changed in such a seemingly simple turn as Will's was. I fear Adrian is in for a similar experience as in her first marriage. The epilogue just makes it a fairy tale, in my mind.
She was able to capture the variety of voices and the related emotions
I wouldn't promote this story.
The stories told and the love shared in them. had me in tears all throughout. One I would definitely listen to again.
Loved it. A wonderful love story with a flew words of wisdom thrown in.
"Good book but a little bit Mills and Boones."
Really good read. couldn't put it down. couple of late nights listening. great narration performanca
The chapters were well developed and the premise was interesting. The reader was exceptional. But the plot of this book was very thin making it so boring! I stuck with it thinking that it would rise above the predictable but it never did.
"Predictable soap opera"
Very slow and can see exactly where the story is going quatre way through. Struggled to finish due to complete lack of ingenuity and not particularly good narration.
"What a wonderful writer"
Yes I would it held me from the first moment, what wonderful story telling. Told with such passion and feeling, had a cry many times during the audio book
when Will finlally realised about life and lost his bitterness
No but would love to hear some more
Yes it was ,but it was not possible, but will definately read it again on my holiday
How could anyone have such understanding and feeling toward people and life . A truly wonderful writer. Will be looking for more from this writer and narrator
"Repetitive but good storyline"
I found this book gripping but overly descriptive. Sometimes I found myself rolling my eyes at the same words being used over and over.
"True romance story"
This book is a charming love story laced with history. I read many reviews that give away the story line. All I'm going to say is this story has twists and turns. It both happy and sad in parts and it takes you on an emotional journey of two separate couple separated by a generation.
