Publisher's Summary

Somewhere on the French Riviera, tucked between glitzy Monte Carlo and Cannes' red carpets, lies the sleepy town of Bellevue-Sur-Mer. Sheltered from the glittering melee, it is home to many an expat - although it hasn't proved as peaceful as expected.

Now an enterprising band of retirees has resolved to show it's never too late to start afresh and open a restaurant. Snapping up a local property and throwing themselves into preparations, Theresa, Carol, William and Benjamin's plans are proceeding unnervingly well. But when Theresa encounters a mysterious intruder, she begins to wonder what secrets the building is concealing.

Meanwhile Sally, an actress who fled the stage to live in quiet anonymity, has decided not to be involved. She's far too busy anyway, shepherding around a gaggle of A-listers, including a suave Russian with a superyacht and a penchant for her company.

As the razzmatazz of the Cannes Film Festival penetrates Bellevue-Sur-Mer, its inhabitants become entangled in a complex pattern of love triangles and conflicting business interests, and something starts to feel distinctly oeuf. Finding themselves knee-deep in suspicion and skullduggery, the restaurateurs realise they can no longer tell who's nasty and who's nice.

    "couldn't get through it"

despite having listened to the 1st book in this short series, I struggled with this book and just couldn't keep going with it. storyline became too boring and the narration wasn't strong enough for me to keep me going. such a shame. I found the pauses in the storytelling just too annoying and it didn't have the flow.

    "Nice work"

Celia Imrie is a great storyteller. Her over-the-top characters are amusing and the story itself is a "nice" bit of escapism. However, I found Sally a bit tiresome in this, she must have smelled a rat when Stani? told her she was charming and WITTY ! Sally WITTY - Life's much to serious. Thanks Celia we're looking forward to the next adventure

"Just marvellous and so much fun."

Beautifully read, with enthusiasm and mischief. Attention to all the little details that matter, without slowing things down. Nice escapism.

"Nice book if you can get it"

Another brilliant piece of work by the wonderful Celia, this is the follow on from Not Quite Nice . This book brings us up to date with Sally, Theresa and all the other characters who are chasing their dreams of !living in the sun in a town in France .
The pace is perfect as is the storyline , a grown up Enid Blyton, Five go off to France ,this book is funny , with the right amount of mystery and the story line is fabulous with all the trials and tribulations of a an ex pat community and family mixed in for good measure .

"Nice Work If You Can Get It"

I thoroughly enjoyed this sequel to NotQuite Nice! Celia Imrie describes the characters in such a way that you feel as though they're old friends, and you can't wait to hear what will happen to them next. Love the twists and intrigue - this is everybit as excellent as her 1st novel. can't wait for another!

    Story
"Not bad, bit not great either"

Celia needs to lay off the tendency to write lists rather than describe things. The book, and its narration were a tad dull, but then I think her characterisation usually benefits from the visual, rather than just the oratory, which is why this book doesn't quite work.

    "Another cracking yarn"

An excellent yarn with just enough intrigue to stop it being altogether too 'nice'. I do like happy endings and I hope we shall hear more from the crew at Bellvue sur Mer.

    Story
    "Very enjoyable, a page turner"

Very well read as you would expect from an actress with Celia's talent. There are several strands to the story, all cleverly interconnected. I found the characters to be well drawn and the story very enjoyable, I wanted to know what happened next. I hope there is a 3rd book in the pipeline.

    Story
    "Interesting"
What made the experience of listening to Nice Work (If You Can Get It) the most enjoyable?

I like Celia and she read it well.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

I like stories about starting up new businesses so I wanted to see what would happen with the restaurant and how it would work out.

Least interesting - the storyline re millionaire - bit too far fetched for me.

Which character – as performed by Celia Imrie – was your favourite?

Favourite - probably Carol - she could have done with more love.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The only irritating thing was the constant use of Bellevue-Sur-Mer rather than using words like home, village, town. Very irritating; and I find that circa 95% of fiction authors do exactly the same. I think their editors must make them do it. So annoying.

    Any additional comments?

I will go back and listen to the prequel to this book. The lead ish character features and it would be interesting to listen to that now. I hope Celia does more books.
