"Needs an unabridged version"
I love Nicholas Sparks, but like to listen to unabridged versions. I am disappointed that this particular book is only available abridged.
"Message in a Bottle"
This story was made into a movie, I saw the movie, I read the book, I listened to the Audible version. All three were right up there with Sparks great productions. I have enjoyed ALL of Sparks works to date and look forward to seeing/reading/listening to anything he produces.
When I downloaded this book I didn't know that it was the abridged version or I probably would not have purchased it. Good story but felt I was missing alot of the details of them falling in love. Most times I get really into Nicholas Sparks books and this one I just wasn't feeling, too short.
"Message in a bottle"
The rewright for the movie was better than the book. It's usually the other way around.
"more than I expected because of the narrator"
If you're listening the book likely you've already seen the Kevin Costner movie +/or read Mr. Sparks' book.
I enjoyed the life and nuance that Mr. Boxleitner breathed into it. He takes the book places that the movie didn't go. Mr. Boxleitner's narration made the book for me. I only wish he'd done more.
Mr. Boxleitner's narration is always spot on in delivering the appropriate emotion and energy to the material. I felt the guilt, anguish & joy.
One of Mr. Boxleitner's best narrations is The Hellion by Lavryle Spencer. He portrays male and female characters deftly with care and affection.
Personally, I found Ms. Quinlan's narration lifeless and unengaging. It's almost as if the material didn't interest her or else she was ill when reading. I kept waiting for her to reflect the energy of the change of her character. I never felt it.
"moving story and sad ending"
it was a good story and although I know what happens I think its a great listen
I havnt listend to any others like this
the feeling of the both of them when they meet
I could of if I had time to but unfortunately I don't have time
I would listen again as it has a good twist and sad ending
"To Love Once Again!"
The audio version gives me a better idea of the character voices, pitch, personalities than the book itself.
Theresa- As she had the courage and determination to go after her dream of a man:)
The performances were done well but I must say that Bruce Boxleitner's voice did scare me a few times when he spoke suddenly as his voice is so very deep.
Near to the end where the 'boat scene' was told I teared up and was very sad things had to end that way.
I completed reading 'Message In A Bottle' by Nicholas Sparks yesterday and it was amazing.
The story focus around two relationships, one in the past and one in the present.
Theresa (the main character) is stuck in a rut, each day is the same filled with demands at work (she works as a columnist) and not enough time in the day to spend at home with her son Kevin. One day while jogging along the beach Theresa came across a bottle which had a sheet of paper inside, she opened it and the paper revealed the most loving, longing romantic letter she had ever seen written to a Catherine, from Garret. This letter intrigues Theresa and makes her long to see the face behind the lovely words.
Theresa soon publishes the letter anonymously in her column and the whirlwind of a story starts from there.
'Message in a bottle’ is a book no-one could put down, it made me want to know more with each page. The relationship in the storyline develops very quickly but you can feel the longing for each other through the pages. I loved everything about this story as it had me feeling all kinds of emotions throughout, the warmth of love, the sadness of loss and the heartbreak of moving on.
i was apprehensive to read this book at first as i have heard many people dislike Nicholas Sparks books, some the plots, some the writing style. Well i found this perfect! I personally cannot fault it in anyway, i loved the characters and their development, i enjoyed the storyline and i think Sparks approached some difficult topics in a caring and gradual way which is how we do in life.
For all this i recommend this book to all younger and older, everyone will love it. Do not listen to others negative opinions, it is always better when you try things yourself!
I can’t wait to read more of N.Sparks books, i just hope to get some soon.
I hope this review has helped you, can you please rate it positively if you liked it as it really means a lot to me, Many Thanks for reading:)
