"In other hands this would be a conventional historical novel. But Ms. Gregory uses her historical knowledge of the haves and the have-nots of those times to weave [a] subtle and exciting story." (Daily Express)

"The last of the trilogy...the best"
This took me years to get to decade and longer after reading the first two of this series. I tried many times to start this last one but it just wasn't the right time I guess. Now I am happy I've read it and it was so much better than I thought it would be! It was quite different from the first two books. The first books were a tad crazy. Full of incest and crazy murdering... This book had so much to it and the plot and storyline rolled out quite well and in good order. I have nothing negative to say about it. The narrator was excellent the characters were all well fleshed out and real. Loved the story sad it's done now...have to find my next absorbing story to listen to and or read!
"Loved it - not a trite love story"
Characters are well formed and believable. You'd actually care what to them.
Meridon for her strength
Brilliant characterisation let the imagination roam
Where is the first book in the series felt as though joining a party half way through 😕
