Publisher's Summary

There are are three things you need to know about Sandra Fielding: 1) She makes all her first dates cry, 2) She hasn't been kissed in over two years, and 3) She knows how to knit.

Sandra has difficulty removing her psychotherapist hat. Of her last 30 dates, 29 have ended the same way: the man sobbing uncontrollably. After one such disaster, Sandra--near desperation and maybe a little tipsy--gives in to a seemingly harmless encounter with her hot waiter, Alex. Argumentative, secretive, and hostile Alex may be the opposite of everything Sandra knows is right for her. But now, the girl who has spent all her life helping others change for the better, must find a way to cope with falling for someone who refuses to change at all.

    "Pure joy!!"

Loved every minute of this story. The hero was so unique and the heroine was so loving. Penny Reid is becoming one of my favorite authors. Perfect narration also.

    "wow just wow"

There was so much about this book that was unexpected and delightfully surprising!! I usually get super bored with romance books but this book throws in lots of smart, witty, and uncertain thrills. Two thumbs up for sure <3

    "Narrator Loses Accent Throughput"

Although it sounds like the narrator has a slight southern accentin real life, she starts out in the first chapter with a heavier accent and then loses it. The accent occasionally makes an appearance, usually when the main character makes a cute comment. It's very distracting. The story is cute but over the top at times.

    Story
    "I struggled with the concept"

The story was ok, and if you've been following the series this story is an okay addition. As a stand-alone title the story lacks cohesion.

I feel the author was trying to include many different points of view and make this hero a complete character. however it wasn't until the epilogue that i was able to see some of his current motivations. I must admit this hero's profession is not as clear to me and that did make a difference in how I perceived his personality type which probably did play into how I received this book.

In conclusion I believe this book is the weakest in the series so far however if you've come this far in the series don't stop now. This book might be laying groundwork for the future and the series is definitely worth it.

"A hot, smart, well read story"

If you enjoy smart, funny romance novels, Penny Reid is the author for you.

The voice actor was so very talented balancing so many different voices. However I really wish someone would have told her that the character of Nico, who is Italian by birth, was actually raised in Iowa (not discussed in this book but it is clear in book two if the series). He didn't need the Italian accent.

Other than that, this book and it's reading is superb.

    Story
    "Meh."

I don't like it when an author just can't get to the point. I know that they are trying to build up suspense or whatnot but just cut to it. There was just too much filler. As for the performance, I felt as if the actor was bored or unenthused to read this book.

    "Penny Reid Does It Again"

I love the different feel of Sandra and Alex's story...there are still the Penny Reid story components that I've come to love and appreciate - the quirky, intelligent heroine...her internal musings...her inability to see how truly special she is...the amazing chemistry between Sandra/Alex. But, there's more mystery and secrets involved in Love Hacked and the heat factor is sizzling, which makes sense due to Sandra's dirty mind/mouth!

I loved Sandra - her t shirts...her horoscope reading...the fact that everyone can't help but fall a little in love with her and she's completely oblivious to that idea.

Alex - I completely understand his hesitancy to give Sandra his past...his truths. He's an absolutely delicious character, not quite up to part with Nico - but not many men can be;)

I absolutely adore Devra Woodward's voice for Sandra; it works so well for how I envisioned Sandra, which made the story that much more enjoyable.

    Story
    "Lovely"

This is the darkest of the series. Sandra throughout the other books is a bit loud and not as sweet as the other women. After this book she became one of my favourite of the knitters. What a story! Younger man (a virgin at that) with an older woman : a fantasy come true. Not as one sided as you would think & Alex is in many ways more mature than Sandra. A lovely story

    Story
    "Couldn't be better"

I love Penny Reid’s books but had avoided this one because the idea of a realistic romance between a 21 year old waiter (also a virgin!) and a 28 year old Psychiatrist did not ring true. How wrong I was!

It shows the immense skill of Penny Reid’s writing that she can start with two characters who are, on the surface, so mismatched, and yet at the end she has woven a deep and convincing connection between them. The book, and the characters, unfold in layer after layer so that the reader comes to the gradual realisation that these two are a perfect match for each other. The romance, at the start of the book, seems simplistic: A deeply damaged young man craves the love of a stable and well-adjusted woman, but as the story develops you come to realise that this woman has her own problems - in dealing with the problems of others, she has allowed her own happiness and well-being to be sacrificed. This damaged man is the only one who really sees this and understands, finally, that she needs him just as much as he needs her. His background and upbringing make him so much older than his years, so he is far from a typical 21 yr old, and although the story is told from the h’s point of view, in the epilogue we hear from the H and it beautifully explains the romance from his perspective, which adds a whole new facet to the story.

This is a touching and emotional love story, that is by no means simple to understand or easy to accept, both to the reader, and to the couple involved. It does involve a rather complicated sub-plot concerning computer hacking and various government agencies but this adds well to the plot, and to the understanding of the characters and issues involved.

A special mention must be made of the narrator who did not have an easy job. This book was truly a record of someone's thoughts and feelings, along with their internal dialogue, which was not always simple to recite! The narration was perfect, and added much to the quality of the listening.

"Love hacked, Sandra and Alex's story"

Love Hacked is my favourite book by Penny Reid, and when the audiobook was released I decided to give it a go, because why not find new ways to enjoy my favourite author? I really liked the narrator as well, it's a bit strange to hear well known characters in someone else's voice after having had them in your head, but I quickly got used to it and I think she did an excellent job!
